Hey Guys!

It's oneawesomeguy again with another 48 hour contest. I have not put one up since last month so it is about time for another one!

ABOUT ME:
I have been hosting contests here on DP for almost two years. I have hosted dozens of contests. I always comment on every design, announce a winner, and I always pay.

WEBSITE DETAILS:
This website is for a professional women who writes books, gives motivational speeches, and works on political campaigns. The website should show that this women is a powerful, strong professional and should use strong dark colours like blacks and browns (but feel free to try something else if you think it looks good!). Here is the current version of the website: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2385260/bm.png - I like some of the top part of the website (i.e., the picture and colours used) but would change out some of the bottom half. The large font and some of the design elements give the impression that the website is a blog (the website may feature a blog, but that is not its primary purpose). The quote at the top will be changed to another quote.

CONTEST DETAILS:
1. Submit web design entries for 48 hours from the time stamp on this post. Revisions on entries can be made after the 48 hours are up.
2. To be fair: No entries via PM and no late entries, please.
3. Once 48 hours is up, I will review all designs thoroughly and give my thoughts/opinions on every single design. This usually takes me 2-3 days (not including weekends).
4. Winner provides .PSD (or .XCF for GIMP users) file and fonts used. I will send $100 via PayPal and give honest iTrader.

RULES:
By submitting an entry, you agree to the following:
1. You must create the designs yourself. No templates. You must not use any images you do not have the right to use.
2. Only the winner agrees to transfer me rights to that design. I will not use any of the other designs and feel free to remove them from this thread once the contest is over.
3. You are free to put in watermarks to protect your work but make the watermark say "Sample" or put a big X accross the whole design (for consistency between designs).
4. By accepting the winnings, you agree to give me full rights to your design and you agree that you will not use this design for anything else.

The 48 hour deadline will be enforced as long as there are at least five entries. One person can submit as many entries as he or she wants.

SUGGESTIONS:
1. For images, check out iStockPhoto or similar sites and use their free comps. Only pay for the images if you win (Note: No istockphoto logos on the winning design sent to me).
2. For colour combinations, check out colourlovers.com--an awesome website!
3. Do not do revisions on every little thing I mention. Seriously. If I really want something done, I'll ask you. No need to waste time.

Hecky: Great job! I like the colours you used. No need to include that video there; just lorem text and fake pictures are fine for now. I am trying to change this website so it is more of a serious website and no so 'blog-looking'. I did like the smaller grey font in the sidebar as well as the logo. I thought there was some unused white space that made the design a little bit off balance, particularly: directly below the picture and to the right of the logo. Lastly, I loved the "Public Servant, Mentor..." thing to the right of the picture. Nice job so far! You are currently in first place!

Don't be afraid to change the current design of the website. I did mention brown and black, but feel free to use any colour as long as it gives the impression of a strong, powerful woman.

Things I didn't like: The call us phone number (if it is an email, it would be okay), the thumbs ups
Not sure about: The desk with all the stuff on it
Things I liked: The logo (wow!), the upcoming schedule, the picture of Betsy


The entries are looking good so far guys. Some general comments: Please do not include thee embeded video in the design. Sorry for not making this clearer in my opening post. Also, try to make the design look professional and not like a blog. Thanks to the couple of you who tried new colours. I like what I am seeing though. Keep it up. Will try to post more detailed comments before the contest is over.
