Stick with GMail however this time use a secure password and don't make your secret question so easy.

The most secure and reliable email service for right now is gmail. Hotmail/live/msn and yahoo are easily hacked right now. but for now, im still using Gmail and Hotmail. These days many hackers are using trojans and spywares that can easily catch your password that are stored in your computer. Try to get several Anti-Virus and compare which is the best. Because if they get your password directly from your computer, there's nothing Gmail/hotmail/yahoo can do, because they didn't block when your account was signed in from other places/IP's because that's what the email is for, for you to easily check your email anywhere and anytime

One bad thing about gmail is that it stays logged in unless we click on logout. But this logging out habit is rare in many people. We just close the window. May be this is why your ID was hacked.

I have an email address with all the big ones. Gmail, yahoo, aol, mail.com and by far Gmail... kills the rest. Less overheads, and pretty secure to me. However if you want a nice interface and slower like ms outlook, then maybe yahoo or aol would be good for you. Doubt there anymore secure however.

love to stick with Gmail and yahoo. Sometime I don't like Gmail, looks slow to me while yahoo makes me feel faster every time.

I dont agree. Yahoo makes me think not to use it ever again. It so slow while gmail loads so quickly even on slower connections. One more point Yahoo is too overloaded with ads which also keep on refreshing. Atleast ads in Google dont interfere much. I dont even notice the ads many time, but in yahoo

    Gmail is good.

Just use flase info on sign up.
It has to look real but no body knows abbout it,
Than no one can recover it using your real info but they will need to have the false info wich cant be found anywhere on the web
Save this info to a txt file put the .txt file on your flash drive get the flash drive out of your computer and put it in a save.
This way even if they hack your computer they cant get the false person info's on it because its on the flash drive and its not connected to any computer.
Encrypt your password with md5 using:
    iwebtool.c om/md5
Than a simple password like "hello" will become:
    5d41402abc4b2a76b9719d911017c592

That is something no one will ever crack using a bruteforcer.
Everytime you want to login you will need to encrypt the hello string using that website
it takes a bit more work but it will keep you allot saver!

And never use the "Remember password" Support that firefox or any other program uses!
This is the most dangerous thing you can do because the passwords will be saved as plain text on your computer ( needs some files to be decrypted to get to it but its not that hard if you know how )
For example if you use firefox you can just go to
Extra -> Options -> Security -> Saved passwords -> Show passwords
And there you are all your passwords saved on your computer!
This can be automated by programmers and done in hidden modes etc and than you can lose all your saved info from firefox in just 1 second and they will be send to the programmer.
    That includes your gmail !

Saver as that it wont get..

Allmost all email proiveders have the option to recover lost passwords in the unique case you lose your password AND your secret question answer..
This cant be secured but if you use false info no one can ever guess them and still retrieve the pass.

Hope i helped you with this!

the spam filtering is great imo with gmail, also the easy use of pop grabbing from multiple accounts etc, my only complaint is the slow retrieval of pop accounts for less active emails.

I have my own mail server. No security issues at all :) .

    1) I can configure spam filter,
    2) I can configure secure access (authentification type, ssl/tsl encryption, https web access, password protected access to directories),
    3) My mail server is behind firewall.

    What more would anyone need?

Even though say there could be someone who can steal my password (impossible, but anyway), I can still reset the password from the control panel of my server :) .

I recommend this. It's superb option.

    Maybe anti DDOS protection?
    Maybe anti exploit?
Believe me your way is the weakest security.
I think all those free public things like hotmail and gmail have a ton of better security xD
