There are many great ways to get high quality incoming links to your website or blog with chosen link text. Here are just a few:

    • Blog Commenting - Make sure to go after dofollow blogs to comment on, add a comment with substance, include relevant links WITH link text and do not spam comment.
    • Article Submission - Write high quality articles including a few well chosen text links in more than 450 words and submit them to article directories.
    • Directory Submission - Time consuming but effective by going after targeted website directories, make sure to fill them out properly and pay attention to get the right text in your link.
    • Offer Link Bait - Offer something for free that can in some way offer some value to others, they will link to you.
    • Forum Commenting - Get an account with a handful of good directories that offer signature links and build up your comments while you build up your reputation.

If there is one thing that I can leave you with that I see most people screw up when they are new(and wasting a lot of valuable links) is paving a clear and defined path to your site. Meaning that you don't want to leave any trailing forward slash's untyped or promote both the www and the non www version of your link. Pick one path to your site and stick with it til death do you part. So when you are building your links, they should show up just as your site does when you land on it. Hope I helped.

Have you ever clicked a link in a blog comment post? I've asked this question a few hundred times already and only 5% of them ever did ;)

Instead of doing blog commenting, I'd rather spend my time on posting forums while linking to your own website. It will give more traffic and also some nice anchors for the SERPs :D

Find out blogs for your niche and start doing blog commenting in them. But as you are looking for backlink then only consider those blogs which are do-follow.

To find out whether blogs are no-follow or do-follow you can download a firefox add-ons called as SEO-quake and it will highlight no-follow links.

I'd use blog comments for link juice only.

Go to Google and click the more link up on top and select blogs. Do a search of blogs for keywords you are trying to rank for. Go to those blogs look to see if they are allowing people to use keywords as the name that links back from the comment. Start commenting.

I don't know where you have done this survey but as per my belief i think blog commenting is not only effective in getting link juice but also in getting high amount of traffic.

I think the people who have told you about this, might be spamming the blogs with their comments. Or they may be only posting in those which are allowing auto-approval of comments.

Find blogs which do not allow auto-approval and spams. Post in them in such a way that visitors are forced to visit your website or blog.

People still are following strategies where they are only looking to get backlinks and this is why you got 5% to backup your survey.
