    Hi friends,
Today morning I got call from paypal, the number was +914466346651. The lady told me that they apologize for the inconvenience regarding bank withdrawals. Alternatively they can start wire transfer to my bank account. And for that they need some additional information and then she asked me email address. I said it is same as the email which I use for paypal.

Then I got the mail and the mail was like this :

The email was from "Pushpakaran, Shamna" <spushpakaran@paypal.com.

All I want to ask is that :

    1. IS IT REAL ?

    2. ANYONE OTHER THAN ME GOT THE SAME CALL AND EMAIL ?

    3. WHAT SHOULD I DO NOW ?

Please reply your answers here so that other members getting this type of mail can also get solution.

    Regards

check the email rom where they sent the mail ...

if it from then it might be real... also while replying check that it is going back to same mail id ...

There is no harm in sending these details as you are not giving authorization to withdraw...

Also write " I hereby authorize Paypal to send my Paypal Account balance via Wire transfer to my Indian Bank account, detail of which is given below..."

this way you will be safe, you need to clearly say that to whom you authorizing and what you authorizing ...

    Edit:

Check the wire receiving charges with your bank, recently I received a wire from a client (after this paypal problem) and I lost 26$ in a transfer of 250$ + client was charged a 5$ fee for initiating the transfer...

These charges depends and vary from bank to bank

My 2 cents - Paypal Email will never start with Dear Sir.

Authentic Paypal Emails will always start with Dear FirstName LastName, exactly as specified in your paypal account.

If the amount is Big and you need quick funds then sure withdraw through this option. Otherwise wait till the situation sorted out. Also checkout the email headers, if you have any doubt or call their official number to verify the credentials.

Looks like it is fake. Individual email address, not that formal email etc.

Did you check the 'full headers' of the email ? Copy paste it here and we can find more info.

Full headers - we will get it in email client as well as web interface.

    Wow, that is strange!
    None of received the call..
I will think in two ways.

REAL : Because, email cant be @paypal.com , so may be true.

FALSE : As others think, may be a big time scam to get yoyr bank details.

TIPS TO GET IT PROVED : Call PayPal USA and ask them if anything such scheme is available for Indian users and give the number and email from your received it. Also, send the same to .
And wait till anyone of us get the same call. SO WAIT!!! NO RUSH!

Email can be anything, @paypal.com or @rbi.org.in - unless we see the full headers, we will not know it.

I will suggest you to confirm with Paypal US. atleast via email

Provide that email address and Mob No.

bout the email it can be done by fake mail sender. Many get mail in spam but few very good fake mail sender also deliver email on inbox.

i tried this and was perfectly working when i tried.

So do not provide your bank or PP details until u r very sure.

You are right you can pretend to be someone else, and if spammer is sending mail, but if reply is going back to there is no chance it will be delivered to spammer ... It will land on paypal server only

That is why I mentioned while replying check the mail is going to same mail id from where it came...

@OP Other advices here also 100% correct, but what i told you was in a language which everybody can understand... decide yourself what to do ...

Well number seems to local number of Chennai. And as from PayPal's mail, I never seen they tell "Dear Sir,". Second things PayPal never do wire transfer at any case I guess. So be careful before to do anything, Why not you check number by calling again, you will get clear information.

For me the 2 red flags are..

It starts with Dear Sir. Usually all paypal emails should have your name.

Asking your email? doesnt paypal know your paypal email. sounds suspicious to me..

    Finally,

Paypal will never send wire transfers.

    And,

Paypal operators will always use Paypal - An ebay company! not just paypal.

i think this is not scam because they are telling to replay to same email address. since paypal own's dns control of paypal.com they is no prob's only paypal will get that info...

also it seem's that you got from an india'n rep of paypal(only india's send "Dear Sir,").

Please Let Us Info if your wire transfer success . But The Bad Effect of wire transfer is huge service charges..
