I have a book being sold on Amazon and Barnes and Noble. It's self- published and I retain all rights. It's kind of a how-to book and is available in ebook form. Is clickbank the way to go for extra income? I've been kind of researching it over the last couple of days and heard the good and bad about the thank you pages and other things, but people think it still is the best way to go despite all the problems. Do you guys agree?
It would depend on whether you can create your own sales page website pitching the product, and whether or not you can send relevant traffic on it. Amazon sells a lot of everything: it is a good platform because amazon.com searches for general products might show your product in the results. On the other hand, virtually no one ever goes to clickbank.com to look for how-to products: clickbank is basically just a payment gateway, and doesn't help you promote products.
You will have to worry about your own promotion and website to handle your eBook if you switch to Clickbank. But, one advantage is you can get some affiliates under you to make you even more income.
I can write good adcopy and set up the website. Does clickbank advise websites that have similar interests as my ebook that it's available? How do I let them know it's available? I'm really not pushing the book much on amazon and only get one little commission check per year. Can you really make a decent amount of money this way? Sorry for being the new guy with so many questions. Just want to make sure if I do this that I do it right.
Clickbank, like I said, is a payment gateway. If you have the time to promote your product - by writing related articles and submitting them to directories, maybe doing some YouTube video uploads with a backlink, or invest serious efforts into search engine optimization (SEO), then do it. What stops most people is the $50.00 fee for putting your eBook on Clickbank; if you're confident that you'll make that back, then yes, it makes sense.
Clickbank is appealing to new publishers because of its huge affiliate base. If you are selling it on Amazon and it is doing well then there can be no harm in putting it on Clickbank and a few other affiliate platforms as well. Make sure that you put up some good affiliate tools and if it is a good niche that sells affiliates will know and you will make more money. The only downside with CB is if it is a good niche you may get other publishers moving in. Chris
This is an interesting consideration. If you've discovered a new niche, would it make sense to look for a different payment gateway than CB, one that doesn't tend to attract so many competitors to your product?
