http://www.smoothentrepreneur.com I would like to maximize my profits by adding some more adsense, possibly within the content, but I just started the site and am nervous of being too intruding with the ad placement. Any ideas on where to place it without disturbing the layout too much?
Beautiful site but i could only see 1 advertisement on that page. I suggest you experiment with more ads and different types. Use channels so you can track click-thru rate. On my homepage, I have found that 3 ads works well. One is a fillable form for Priceline, another is adsense text ad, and the third is a banner ad. After several experiments, this seems to work best for me. Homepage: Hotel Deals Revealed
Most Ads are intrusive. Maybe you should try less intrusive ways to earn from your site. But in the end, putting Google Adsense As on your website = Intrusive but you get paid, or else, Don't put intrusive ads on your website and don't get paid. Sorry if that's blunt but its the truth which most people starting out with Google AdSense and a website seem to have a problem with and once you get over the fear of worrying about your ads being intrusive the more your visitors are likely to click those ads, as long as you have decent blending of course! I would be more concerned with how well your theme blends in with your ads. A well designed theme can handle most any sized ads and still leave room for content. Have a look at this website www evilpsp com by switching the theme to better place or "integrate" the theme into the ads, the CTR rate doubled overnight! (There wasn't the 160x600 skyscraper or the 2x 300x250 clocks up top.) I was in the same boat as you my friend, did I want to make my visitors happy or did i want to try and earn more using Google Adsense. It turns out my visitors are happy just as long as they are able to use your website as a portal to get what they are after which is the content. Have good content and people don't mind ads to much.
The people who make their living from google adsense only put 1 adsense block per page - the large rectangle, positioned below the header, and above the start of the content I copied what they did, and my adsense earning are over $1,300 a month - and increasing at the rate of 10 percent per month Generally they will also delete graphic headers from their sites and replace them with plain headers - in order to focus attention on the adsense block without distraction from pretty pictures
