Do you think stoning someone to death is an acceptable punishment for being unfaithful?

No, not really, refer to my post again, and to the threads in which the topic of stoning, and adultery and there punishment in Islam, been discussed in much details here is a link,

you say being punished for being unfaithful, it is not that simple, nobody is being punished for being unfaithful only, again, you can read from requiring 4 adult, sane and honest witnesses that it is more a punishment for spreading such dirt in the community, how many adulterers commit adultery in front of 4 witnesses?

and it should not be looked at it in separate of other rules that touch this subject, there is something important that must be noticed, is that Islam rules removed any reason for the person to be unfaithful,

example, a woman can ask and get a divorce if she was not sexually satisfied with her husband, or even for lesser reasons such as not standing him,

another example is the punishment of the robber, which is the cut of his hand, it is only implemented when there is no real reason for the robber to rob except mischief, if he robbed because he was unable to work and spend on himself, then he should be given enough money to live in dignity, if he robbed because he was ill and need treatment, or hungry and needs to eat, or in debt and afraid of the debtor, or have bills and can't pay them, or was not in control on some or all of his actions, then he is not punished, in the contrary, the ruler is then questioned, and so on .. which leaves no reason for people to rob,

when there is no reason left for people to steal, the law is implemented, and still, it does not mean everyone who steal will have his hand cut, if the stolen amount was less than certain limit, he is not punished but asked to return it, nobody would be punished for stealing $5 for example, and if the amount is big, and this was the first time, then he is not also punished with cutting his hand, but will be asked to return it, and will be warned, after that, if he stole again, then he is punished with cutting his hand.

This is in a quick and of course there are other conditions before rushing to implement a punishment, it is not as simple as you think: "Unfaithful --> stoning" or "rob --> cut hand", No.

    - gives an impression that he knows Islam very well

Not knowing the writings of Islam is not necessary in making judgments about the behavior of Muslims - The Almighty seeks the purity of the soul, whatever it may be, and will be if pure the answer itself than whatever was read from a book - particularly when all three religions are bigoted in one direction or another than seeking the actual truth.

There can be only one explanation for the origin of man. When discussed by both religions, with the similarity of the Garden of Eden but with dissimilar writings there is a conflict - that is resolvable through search / vision by the true believer seeking the actual answer existing through the Almighty than what is written - Your answer is incomplete in regards to both religions.

imad, regardless how many witnesses are (supposed to be) required, and regardless of the reason for stealing, stoning someone to death or chopping their hand off is a frankly primitive and bloodthirsty form of "justice".

You seem to try to condemn it but then try to defend it. So let me ask you something else. If a woman commits adultery and there are in fact 3 witnesses, should she be stoned to death?

Islam is only 500 years behind every one else, good reason for them to be defensive.
