Traffic for your website is the golden chalice we're all looking for. There are two types of traffic and it is important to discern between them. For one, you have general traffic that doesn't have a chance to convert to income. Then there's traffic that DOES have a chance to become part of your paycheck! I think that when starting out you want all the traffic you can get so that the search engines start ranking your site. Eventually, when people start searching for the keywords you have your site optimized for, people who want to buy what you have to offer or read what you have to say (and click on ads converting to income) will come to your site. Some ways of generating traffic are: joining forums and posting helpful advice, submitting your site to directories, joining and posting on all types of social sites, and writing articles to post on article sites. There are books written on these topics! Just use common sense. One of the things I do is use SEO Toolbar to determine the PR of sites I may want to consider posting on. The higher the PR, the more your efforts count. That's just one way to ensure you are not wasting your time. Make sure you can post a signature or have some way to get a link pointing back to your site. Also, the articles or information that you post should be relevant to your site keywords and the links you use should also use your keywords.
Social Bookmarking (reddit, mixx, furl.net, digg, delicious, stumbleupon) and Social Networking (facebook, myspace, orkut) are good source of traffic.
You can also considering joining a banner exchange or text link exchange to get some extra traffic and it's free too.
only thing you need to do is to tell everybody that this site exist in world and the rest of choice is yours. Aafaq http://www.zigpic.com/albums/album_detail/AUVVEeW1GdhJlRaVXTWJVU
Ok, why do people keep repeating the same things in the forums? I think too many people are trying to build up their posts.
OK loads of ways such as: - PPC Ads - Article Marketing - Organic Search Engine Traffic - Blog Comments - Social Media - Video Marketing
Isn't getting traffic the holy grail of internet marketing? The key is putting it all together and converting that traffic!
Every day, millions of people use Twitter to create, discover and share ideas with others. Now, people are turning to Twitter as an effective way to reach out to businesses, too.
I'm generating additional traffic from posting comments in Yahoo Answers and similar Q&A sites like Wikianswers, Fluther and Yedda. Try that as well.
Very true, but the click through rate for Twitter is pretty poor. I have around 4k followers and get about 1-2 clicks per tweet. Facebook is much better, but conversion is still a problem.
