I see so many people whipping out their jolly "first sale" kind of thread, so I cannot help but to go for a change of pace: I just had my first refund! :-D After 3 months of Clickbank and some 15 sales, I recently noticed a particular (and not so pleasant) new statistic in my analytics: my first refund happened earlier this week, from a purchase that had happened on the previous Friday. Oh well, I guess I don't have some kind of affiliate super-powers after all! Funny how it happened just when I was beginning to boast how MY customers never ever asked for refunds! What do you think? Is 1/15 a respectable refund rate, or should I (as a rookie affiliate) sharpen my tools and aim for the stars?
I think that is a pretty ok refund rate if you ask me. The general average may range somewhere between 8% to 10% that is the amount clickbank holds back for future refunds. But it really depends on the niche your a promoting.
Hey man, if you got a refund there's no hope for you I think you should drop this whole clickbank thing, and get a paper route or something .
1) Usually (unless you promised something that wasn't true), refunds aren't the affiliates fault. 2) 1/15 is fine, don't worry about that 3) Why exactly did you make this thread? Do you really think any of us care about your one refund?
1) Despite of my rookie-ness I beg to differ. The way an affiliate pre-sells and pitches the sale does impact refunds. 2) I'm not worried about the refund, it just got me wondering about the actual refund rates most people get. 3) I made this thread to a) take a stand & make a difference (most people make threads only when they get their first sale) and b) to try and figure out whether dlm is a man or a woman. :-P
Congratulations on your first refund! Look at the positive yeah! It means you're doing bigger sales volume now I don't think 1/15 is bad overall, but just keep an eye on which product it was for and watch that closer and see if the refunds for that particular product are much higher
Dlm's definitely a man who's so damn insecure bout himself that he has to use his sisters pic everywhere so that people take him seriously(or atleast thats what he thinks)
Hey guys, this is a very interesting thread! I feel like saying something here too.. 1) That's not really our fault. It can be considered as the vendor's fault but there are people who'd just find a little excuse to claim a refund. I have had refunds for every product i promote. And more importantly, refunds are actually good for our business. They help build trust among the people that online shopping is safe (especially for digital products) 2) 1/15 is not too good, but its still not bad at all! 3) Its an interesting thread. If others can make a thread on gaining sales, why can't you make one on losing sales?
I think most of the refunds are just people looking to get a free product. I have had the same person buy several things through my affiliate link and each time got a refund systematically the next day.
I told you i've had good success in the past, I just never kept it up because I was a full time student and non-scholarship athlete trying to work....never had time for this until now.
Meh, I did internet marketing part time when I was a full time student. I guess that's because I didn't waste time insisting on writing 20 articles per day.
Wait till you're seeing 50+ refunds in a day I look on it just as I do paying tax. Hate it, but at least I'm making money... as long as overall refund rate is less then 10% of course....
nope.. I said "in a day".. CB seems to do refunds in blocks.. I may go 3 days without a refund, then get a bunch in 1 day.
