If you have any way to get local traffic, Yellowpages.com and Superpages have lots of organic and direct traffic. Very good for anything local.
i don't keep track of which specific directories send traffic but i've done some good bit of work on directory submissions the last 14-18 months or so, and they do send some traffic in fact i'm kind of surprised by which ones send traffic. yahoo and dmoz still send a bit but certainly not like 5-8 years ago or more. but overall might be 2-5% of all traffic from directories it's not much, but......
local directories and niche directories can bring good traffic, general directories are for backlinks
high traffic web directories can give you traffic too , but mostly you get back link from free web directories I would suggest http://www.bestwebhostings.net for web hosting directory
Theoretically somebody looking in a directory would be keenly interested in the subject matter that they are browsing. My analytics shows much longer time on site from directory traffic in general
Directories send tiny tiny amounts of traffic, they are used mostly for back links and classification
i have got a handful of links from dmoz and the yahoo directory in 5 years. thats the top 2 you'd probably say. think what you're going to get from all the rest. i get way more hits from article sites.
Yahoo and google still better... -------------------------------- Get permanent backlink? contact me Healt Backlinks contact me
