Surfing & Surfboard Design Site Review

The site is SurfScience.com

We have created it as a resource for surfers. There are articles on various subjects like surfboard design and surfing tips. We get all our info from experts in the surf industry.

I am interested most in usability feedback and if the layout of the nav bar (especially the sub-nav when you click topics) makes sense.

One page we worked really hard on is the one about surfboard design guide . We're ranking 2nd page now for the term, any tips?

I think it looks good. You might want to play with the colors if you can...Blue is water but Orange or a bright color says to me FUN in the sun. Just a thought.

 

Nice site. You seem to have a wealth of info for surfers. If I was a surfer I would pursue it more. Alas, I live in Colorado.

 

Thanks for the feedback. You guys are being too nice though. We are working on getting our bounce rate down as we have a lot of search traffic that comes not knowing who we are.

In your first 5 seconds on SurfScience.com do you know what it is about? What do you think it is?

 

In 5 seconds I definitely knew what your site is about. I see so many sites that don't even have introductory text.
If you have a high bounce rate it must be people who found you by mistake. You are definitely informative about surfing.

 

I like your site... look nice and also i like the background picture.

nice...

 

the secret is honestly to write lots of good content. We have 100 article of quality material on a range of subjects about surfing. We try and help anyone that has questions and the links just come pouring in. If you focus 80% on product and 20% on marketing, things are much easier.

 

I like the layout of the site. It's quite nice!

 

very high PR. try to change the background color because it is very dark, try to give light colors.

 

Nice site with good design and layout and the contents are unique with attractive images and the flash banner was very impressive ..
