Keyword selection is one of the most important ingredients in a successful SEO Marketing campaign and should not be taken lightly. There are some diamonds in the rough and need to be found to generate a huge buzz about your website.
In short, lack of knowledge in competitive keywords research is the main reasons of some SEO pratitioners who failed at the very first start.
the information is very valuable, but there is something unclear to me when doing a search with the google search box without quotes and found for example 2 millions pages or more and then doing the same research within the quotes and found a reasonable competition how can I judge the competition?
Great tips, thanks for sharing. I shall now beign to put them into practice to make my seo 110% perfect!!
Great post! We find it useful to go after a few top-down keywords to attract a high volume of sessions & then focus on bottom-up keywords for conversions.
The fourth mistake CAN be easy ... but only if you know how to do it right. Most people out there use the old fashioned "google keyword" tool and think they're set... WRONG .... you need to really know how to research your keywords the proper way.
Thanks! Great Info! one question though... for #4, you said if it is less than 100,000 than it should be ok to rank, well are you talking about under where it says "local search volume" or "Global monthly search volume" and maybe if you can explain to me the difference. Thanks!
Global is how many people in the entire world search for the keyword each month. Local is how many people in your local country (Google.com, Google.ca, etc) search for the keyword each month.
well I'm in America so local means only in United States? and when he mentioned 100,000 or less did he mean local or global?
In this case, Local is more important. Because when you care about your SE ranking you care about a specific search engine, like Google.com. You don't average out your ranking across Google engines from different countries. However, if you want international traffic (say you're promoting CPA offers that can accept customers from ANYWHERE), then it's definitely a good idea to pay attention to Global search data so you can determine what volume of traffic to expect.
