I'm going to redo my SEO, tips?

I've had my website for a few months now and I made alot of the pages with very little seo knowledge. I now know that the SEO on these pages can be streamlined somewhat (sorting out the header texts, etc). I am looking for any tips from you guys. I'll be adjusting about 100 pages so I don't want to have to do it twice :D

Heres an example of one of the pages I am changing (they are all the same design/layout but are just on different species).

    http://www.exotic-pets.eu/royal-python.php

Heres what I've got on my "to do" list up to now:

    - Make better use of the header tags (so just my keywords are in them)
    - Make better use of the meta keywords and description
    - Make better use of the alt tags on images
    - Clean up the title tags
    - Improve key word density wherever possible.
    - Increase content wherever possible.
    - Improve page layout (ok, so its not seo...)

    Anything anybody else can suggest?

I beg to differ :) try to get the content you want indexed as high up your page as possible in the code, might help a bit as well.

Use your internal links wisely. Most overlook the power of internal links and dont use them wisely.

Well... the first thing that should be done to your site since it's in its infancy is to properly seo the forum before it gets way out of hand.

You need to start in the backend and work to the front.

We have a client with a very similar situation such as yours... new site, forum just begining... unique niche.

He struggled for traffic and economic viability but now... after working with us 6 months.. consistently ranks in the top 3 targetted traffic terms and now pulls an additional 27 money keywords.

It can be done.. but you've got to do it carefully.

What do you mean by that? Using titles, proper file names and a good hierarchical link structure?

SEOing the forum, how can that be done? I've added an archiver, added meta tags and something which makes the meta tags on the threads the same as the thread title. I've also added a few alt tags as my keyword in an attempt to get keyword density up a bit. PhpBB seems a little limited from a SEO point of view but I really can't afford to buy vBulletin at the moment.

I rank pretty well for a few non competitive keywords but I can't see me ranking for my main keywords for atleast another 6 months.

I mean be sure to use good anchor text for all your links including alt tags for image links.

Also, make sure that your most competitve keywords pages get the most links. example:

you have a page that focuses on "buy a new car"
and you have a page that focuses on "buy a new honda car"

The prior is going to have more competition than the latter and should have more internal links pointing to it.
