Hello all! I've done plenty of searching for a pagefile.sys solution with no luck. My pagefile.sys file is over 3GB. (3,143,680 KB) I have set my local security policy to clear the pagefile.sys on shutdown BUT this does not work at all. I checked my registry and the correct setting is there as well. When I shutdown and boot back up, my file is still the same exact size. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks a lot!!!
Remove file with your hands.Go to C:\ and remove(before this go to Tools->Folder Options and click Show hidden files and folders).
Yeah I don't think you can remove it.... It's highly protected and I don't think Windows will let you delete it. I haven't tried, but I did try to open it and I can't even open it with textpad.... Besides don't I want it for performance purposes? More info: I have two 500 GB drives that are Raided together. Thanks for the responses... Does anyone have an idea how to clear it out?
Bump for the night crew Anyone no how to clear your pagefile.sys? The local security policy doesn't work. Is it because I'm raided together?

http://www.hiren.info/pages/bootcd Download this and create bootable cd,after that run mini windows xp and i`m 100% sure you can remove this file.
Hey man thanks a lot for the response... I don't think I want to delete it because won't that affect performance in some way? I would like to clear it each time I reboot though.... Wouldn't that improve performance or no?
You should try to change the pagefile size to a fixed one. The idea of deleting it with a Linux live cd or a recovery cd is not a good one because the next time you load Windows a new one will be created. If you don't know how to cahnge the pagefile so that it will have a fixed size I can offer some assistance.
The file was cleared, but not deleted. clear # delete. If you delete it yourself, windows will make another one.
Omarabid.. Thanks for the response! I don't think the file was cleared since it shows the exact file size every time as.. 3,143,680 KB Is there any way to get this file to 0 KB every time I reboot? Thanks again!
