    Hi all,
What is the best back link check tool? I am not a site owner to use google analytics and yahoo site explorer, but I have lot more blogs and I promote them using off page SEO stuffs like, directory submission, article posting and social book marking.

I usually check my back links is a site - backlinkwatch.com. The issue is I do loads of social bookmarking, article posting and directory submission. Many of those bookmarked pages and article pages are cached by Google. In all those bookmark pages and article pages I have links pointing to my blogs. When I check back links I don't see any of those bookmark or article pages. But I could see lot of directory submissions pages, where the link to my blog is present.

    What could be the problem?

Is Google not considering links from a social bookmarking site and article directories as back links. Am confused

    Any guesses? suggestions?

    I appreciate your valuable comments.

    Cheers

I don't post my article only in popular article directories but I also post in many pr0 article directories - just to count them in as a back link.

Both are counted by G, but when article site's archive the post, the link goes away. The archive page is usually a nofollow page. It's how they save their PR.

Even the links on this post go away after time when they are archived.

This is why I always ask the question, is it a permenent link (i.e. always going to be there.) Blogs, forums, bookmarks, etc. do not have a life expectancy of a year.

Also, many of the sites use a nofollow attribute.

You also need to remember that sometimes Google takes a while to find the backlink if at all. It's very frustrating to see 500 links in site explorer and 3 in google webmaster. Not sure why that is but I always show a lot more in site explorer.

first of all dear, you can also install google analytical code in a blog.
second google counts both bookmarks and artcles back links.
bookmarking means getting instant traffic and a backlink from high pr website, it applies on those bookmarking websites that provide permanent link and i think all did,

Google does considers back links form article and social book marking, but i think Google might have started considering it from now onwards as no follow. I hope this does not happen. Can you tell me how old is your website???

Thanks. But I don't own a web site as I said earlier. I just have lot more blogs and I do some off page seo stuffs.

My blogs are 4-8 months old.

If it is nofollow link will google does not consider as a backlink. I believed that if it is a nofollow link you can not just juice the PR from the page but still considered as backlink.

    Pls clarify.

    Cheers

Sometimes google counts links from article directories as backlinks; sometimes it does not. I think there is no single definite answer, it all depends on the particular article submission directory in question. May be if google trusts it and ranks it higher than the other sites doing article submission then you can see that backlink using "link:" syntax in google.

From my experience, as long as the article site is indexed your backlinks get counted for sure
The bigger ones can get your backlinks up in hours if not minutes :D
