all this sucks big time....govt could have checked random transactions or made PAN card registration at paypal complusary but no they simply dont want to work hard on this issue and they did it in a simple way ie ban paypal.....now what are we freelancer left with (1. payoneer card - this is illegal paypal was much better than it (2. xoom work fine for time being and few more unknown small time money transfering companies....

they are saying freelancers were not paying taxes what about those who were paying?

Yes, what about the tax payers? Does the government has any genuine concerns on us?
This is just like the ban imposed on yahoo groups some years ago, because there was an anti-india group of some 30 ppl functioning using yahoo groups.
they have just imposed a blanket ban in while yahoo groups.

this is china , iran or India?

no mate they dont have any concerns for us....they blocked everything as if amercians are going to suffer with this..it is very much the indians who are suffering:( but i see some ray of hope paypal have made changes in there terms effective from 10th march regarding personal payments...bank withdrawals are not mentioned there so i guess we are going to have good news very shortly:)

Absolutely, As genuine Tax Payers we do demand some respect. Unlike people who scam and get away from the government systems, here we honestly pay taxes and get to bear all this nonsense.

This is not good, not good at all. We all had a feeling that something like this was up. I guess the business they get from Indians will be too much to lose out on. We practically drive half their business! ;)

Actually its not that much easy to make PAN ness for Paypal, Paypal is run by US company and they have different rules and regulations. They are following US laws for their citizens but they dont care about other countries, if any other country doing illegal transfer they damn care about it.

And Sooner or later govt. will take action.

After reading all this, I have a sad feeling that it is going to take months for PayPal to fix up withdrawals back to Indian bank accounts. :(
