I have a campaign that I've been running for almost two years. It's a very low volume word -- the actual name of a product -- and I usually get an average of 15 to 20 impressions a day. Yesterday there were over 19,000 impressions in one day, which, of course, has caused my click-through rate to seriously tank. Does anyone have any idea what is going on? I'm sure my quality score is going to tank also because of it. Thanks
Am confused you are saying that your impression has increase and your clicks have decrease? Well if that's the case just customized your ads make them blend in, change the size sometimes that works... It works for me
May i know what was your Click through rate before and after? I also saw another thread complaining the same with YSM?
My click-through rate was like 3.5 percent. With such a low-volume keyword, I'll never be able to recover on the percentage with 19,000 impressions and no clicks against it. I think I'm going to call Yahoo and see if they have any explanation for it. Guess it can't hurt
Might be some problem at Yahoo's end. This can never happen unless keywords like Obama shooting up as high as this during election. Call up Yahoo and let us know, what you get...
19,000 Impressions? Wow that would be wonderful. Anyway about your problem, you can always contact yahoo and ask why you have that kind of situation. But I am realy amazed by your 19,000 impressions. Congrats
Lynda, the likely answer goes something like this, a story I have told before. I manage a campaign for a client in the children's clothing business. A couple of years ago, the same thing happened to me: a huge hundred-fold increase in impressions and I couldn't figure out why. It happened on a brand called Charlie Rocket. Guess what? There was a celebrity called Charlie Rocket who died. I had never heard of this guy but not knowing or researching did not help the client. While too late, I added negative keywords to the campaign. It's also a lesson in using broad matches carefully in Adwords and to use more phrase and exact matches. In Yahoo, they call these Tactics and Advanced (the default) is the equivalent of broad match and Standard the equivalent of phrase and exact. I suggest to always use Standard.
or maybe you just get DDoS from someone and your website stats think it's a visitor ? It happen to be one time and I check my website log (I have a dedicated server) and I have to fix a lot of thing that day. Stupid DDoSer
