I just spoke to a paypal executive regarding the withdrawal options. It seems that we can't withdraw to the desbit or credit card as well since its technically the same as per them. However, he says that its quite secure to withdraw through cheque for now. I am not sure about this option as I recollect a horrendous incident three years back where it took a month for the cheque to reach me.

I also explored links on some news websites when I keyed in paypal india on google.

I just hope this makes big news that paypal is sucking big time. Lets treat this as an eye opener folks and start using parallel options. In fact we should start writing on individual freelance project websites and ask them to end their tie-up with this company.

I would also like to ask if someone has tried paypal to xoom transfer. Any response would be highly appreciated.

    1. currency problem always there but does any one or bank have the right take money from mcustomer account with out customer will.

    2. If there is any RBI Norms, Do paypal came to know that only on Jan 28 what they did for long do they have common sense and business ethic to inform the customers. If they did you can't withdraw money to indian bank no one will give withdrawal request.

    3. Do we asked them reverse the payment to back to our account. what we all want is out withdrawal request to be executed.

    4. How come you are saying RBI Stopped who said you so. Did paypal Mailed you, Did paypal put it in their official blog. Even they don't want to say anything about the problem. why you assume and blame RBI and support Paypal.

    5. Even the problem is solely of paypal they are not charging the common currency market price. So you are saying that its fair even to make profit out of currency conversion even all the fault on there shoulder and customer are innocents. Check the curreny buying and selling in open market in the date you withdraw and the payment reversed to your account. Do this profited third person in currency market or paypal. The currency fluctuation is not big in a week but the commision paypal charged for $$$ to Rs and Rs to $$$ is too high then market price.

    6. I don't know why u are supporting paypal for long time in DP as everyone complaining and anger over how paypal handle this crisis. And even in this crisis they want a big fat profit.

    7. Did you saw the paypal official blog sucks. The guy who reported this problem put a laughing face. What you will do when you dad is serious condition and the doctor come to you and laugh ha ha ha may be your dad passes away we cann't assure it whether he will see tomorrow sunrise. sorry i am not saying you just i gave a common example how we feel.

Yes xoom is just a means to bring money in USD to India in the form of rupee. It doesn't matter whether we bring it for ourselves or for others. It's just a transferring agent...

yes it was totally a mistake from Paypal's side. I strongly feel that RBI has nothing to do with Paypal since other companies like Xoom and ikobo are carrying out the maney transfers without any issues. If it were to be a problem from RBI then surely it would have affected Xoom also. Paypal is nothing more than a transferring agent which does it's transfers via deutsche bank (other companies like Xoom does it through another local bank which they have tie up with). So I guess that they have an issue with deutsche bank or have some problems in their internal system.

So for all these problems what ever it may be, Paypal is responsible. And we have to blame none other than paypal and not RBI or Indian govt.

It doesn't matter if have have an Indian account in paypal. You are just using paypal as a source to fund Xoom and once funded Xoom initiates the transfer in rupee to India.

Yes all Feb bank withdrawals have been reversed back right till the client.
Jan end transactions (27th Jan in my case) reversed back only to my account and not back to my client.

+ 1 to that. While some things on Paypal's side are rather sad and low, it is an obvious fact that a lot of this has happened due to the fact that we did misuse Paypal's payment processing system a fair bit. Being a webmaster myself, I get tonnes of requests from my writers and data employess to make personal payments. Infact, one of my writers didnt even reciprocate an itrader as I never gave him personal payment. But nevertheless, I hope Paypal comes up with a concrete solution that would need changing for a long time.
