Here is a tip: always post to EzineArticles first because if your article is anywhere else when submitted they will not accept it.
thanks for the list but i believe on major article dir is missing....buzzle.com..this where i get my traffic from majorly and they always approve my articles after two days of review...but ezinearticles are killing me..what i do is submit first to buzzle and later to ezines...the ones that were accepted at ezinearticles were first submitted to buzzle.
EzineArticles is not fast or easy. It takes about a week if you don't have Platinum author status, and if your article is even slightly off from their guidelines they reject it. ArticleBase links are nofollow. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but some people really make a big deal about it.

Sure, Buzzle is ok, but requires unique content, so you can not submit your article if it is already on the web.
With article marketing I think you have to make the decision if you want to focus on a few high PR directories that require manual submission, or to submit everywhere on the web. I prefer to stick to a few high PR directories myself.
Submitting manually is something of the past. I definitely suggest getting an automated article submitter. I write one article a day and then submit it into the program (you must first have an account with all the article directories available on the program). That gives me about 50 backlinks a day. Of course the article directories aren't the best article directories available but the idea is to get backlinks right? But if you are trying to get unique traffic to your website, and not just a backlink I recommend using Squidoo. It is almost like creating a blog but squidoo has its own directory just like Ezinearticle or GoArticles. Also Squidoo offers offers a money making opportunity with adsense, amazon, ebay, and everything you may want to add to a blog or website to make profit! can you also list what kind of links are allowed? I know many of the article directories only allow a signature link. I would like to find some article directories that allow internal links from the article itself.
First ask yourself, are you trying to get backlinks or trying to get traffic. If you are looking for traffic use Squidoo. Im telling you it is much better than any article directory. If you are set on using articles, then check their PR if it is higher than 5 you will get good traffic (as long as your article has quality information). If you are just trying to get backlinks it don't matter where the link goes at all it is still a backlink. Most of the major article directories won't allow links within the body of the article. I think Ezinearticles allows after the first paragraph, correct me if im wrong. All of the small directories could care less where your link is, as they are just happy that you submitted there.
