I saw this asked on another forum and I am interested in the answer: if I make 20,000 posts on DP, does that mean my site gets 20,000 backlinks?

Well they could all be pages in the archives where members could stumble into them or search for them, so they are still credible to be clicked and bring in visitors. Plus having that many backlinks on Y! Site Explorer is huge, as they will just continue to grow!

it is better to have 5-10 backlinks to different forums than have 20k to one forum

Why do you say that? Not judging or saying that I disagree, I'm generally curious why it would be better to have them from multiple sites? I suppose it would look more organic to Google, which is a huge plus.

Just do a spin article submissions and get a huge diversified amount of contextual back links. It would be much more useful.

Did this work for you SEODRAGON site?

We should get some insight how this really work.
I am also just wondering how good an idea this "SPUN articles" is. OK google may not notice for now, but are these text just garbled sentences with low semantic value. Kind of the postmodernism generator try it out.

What I meant is that google one day may find a way to distinguish the good text from the garbage text. And they may consider honoring this distinction.

Then sites with tons of pages containing text garbage, may fall through as well. This can be article pages, but forum pages as well. Here the question is the PR ranking of specific pages. There I won't mind having a dofollow backlink on a forum page with a PR rank of 3 and only 10 links to share with.

I have to agree with a lot of what you're saying, but I feel as though backlinks are backlinks regardless. Even if your content is poor, Google can't ignore a page with tons if inlinks as there must be a reason for it. I am an advocate for actually writing good blog posts, though, so I am upset to see blogs with garbage posts full of keywords hoping to rank.

20,000 little link from forums may worth 1 PR7 link.

Maybe you should try it by yourself, if it work, tell me...He..Hee..HHeeee

I just put up my new signature and I made a few posts. I received close to 100 unique views on my blog. Not something special, but for a couple of hours, it's a good thing to know! Didn't get too many clicks but oh well. Traffic is traffic!

Well right now I am doing an experiment with this very thing. I will primarily be building backlinks using forum links. I'm hoping to see a jump in the serp's. Crossing my fingers.

I would only assume you would increase your SERPS, not only because of all the links but if you target keywords than the text you use for the link is just as important!

Yes you can get the 20,000 backlinks but make sure that those backlinks have its quality as a post. Well making 20,000 post is possible but not too close to reality :D

... That's about the number of posts that I made on several forums I made over the years. It should be noted that not all of them carried links.

Having one or two links in your signature can't actually damage. What I would refrain from is link spamming forums with otherwise useless trash posts.

I am just wondering, whether some people are trying to get more posts with their one-liners like "I agree" or "This is nice" postings.
