Once paypal Irons out bugs, it appears they will only allow payments to be made to Indians if a shipping address is mentioned. This might probably be due to some RBI regulations. This will be a huge problem for people like me who are highly dependent on networks like textlinkads, infolinks, payperpost, elance.com gfa and so on. I think it is time we start evaluating the alternatives. MB seems to be the best alternative available at the moment but I'm not sure if all networks will support MB in terms of using them as a payment option. I guess we will go back to receiving payments through the good old cheque option.

There could have been better solutions to this mess if paypal may have applied their Mind.
Looks RI have asked paypal to disclose senders details for all money and they did not have.
They could have made sender address details compulsory.

I have been following this thread since the last 2 days and I think I share the concern of all other Indians here as to where the hell is our money. I have done a transfer to my bank account on Feb 1 for a $1000 and I have not seen the money in my account yet. Probably its stuck somewhere in the middle with all other Paypal money.

Incidentally my client paid me via Paypal the sum of $1000 on Jan 31st (US date) and it didnt get reversed and it stayed in my account. I moved that amount to my bank and now its status is not known.

I doubt that Paypal is running away with all our money, as they have been around a long time and they need our business. As other people have pointed out, a similar thing happened last year and they were able to resolve it and we got our money.

I think its wise for all Indians getting money from abroad to understand how the NEFT system works as thats the primary way of settling electronic funds transfer and is also used by Paypal via an Indian bank. (NEFT cannot handle overseas funds, except Nepal).

Most people must be very frustrated by Paypal at this point, but the fact still remains that it is the simplest and the most practical for us to receive funds from abroad. There is no guarantee that Moneybookers or Alertpay etc will never have a problem, and they are still not comparable to Paypal in size or popularity. 90% of Indian IT outsourcing from comes the US and there Paypal is king.

I have been a member of Paypal since the last 8 years and I have never been scammed out of money by them (I have a Premier account), so I have reason to believe that the money will show up in the next 48 hrs.

Going to the media etc is of not help because its not going to help Paypal in resolving the issue, it will simply add to the pressure.

Losing business in India is more of a loss for Paypal than for us .

 

While trying to make this change it appears that their coders messed up somewhere and they are still trying to fix those bugs.

I have also made Withdrawl request on 28 Jan but still not Got payment in my account. Paypal shows the payment is completed.

 

The money I received from a advertising company which places ads on my site got reversed. And the company uses a manual invoice system where we are supposed to send them invoices ourselves..I have no idea how they are going to fix this mess and give me back my money. Paypal should've warned us about this in advance or something, they havent approached this problem the right way
