I have a website(site1.com) who is doing well on adwords. (It has a steady rate conversion rate.) I'm thinking about creating a brand new website(site2.com) Site2.com will sell the same product - however, the whole sell-page will be rewritten. Would it be possible to double the traffic(thus increasing the overall sales) by advertising site2.com on adwords? I guess I'll have to create a new adgroup, and new text-ads. Do you think this is possible? Will it work? I would appreciate any comments & suggestions Thanks! John
Why not create different pages on your existing site? Right now you are going to yoursite.com/index.html Redo your landing page any way you want, then for your destination url use mysite.com/page2.html mysite.com/page3.html Wouldn't that work?
I don't think you would necessarily double your conversions, but you might squeeze out a few more. Think of it this way - if you create another AdWords account with the same keywords, you will be competing with yourself for the same traffic. Your conversions for the original page might go down a bit as the new "competitor" (site #2) takes its share of the traffic. You should also keep in mind the fact that landing pages make a huge difference in conversion performance. Landing page #2 might lack something that #1 has, and it might not perform as well as you expect. You're probably better off just keeping one AdWords account, and using a tool like Google Website Optimizer to test new landing pages to see if you can crank up the conversion rate on the original page.
zeekstern, slivengood, Thank you for your comments. I don't want to open a 2nd AdWords account - I don't even think that I'm allowed to have 2 accounts at the same time. I'll just create a new adgroup. I'm still not 100% convinced that I'll be competing with myself if I launch a 2nd website. Any other thoughts or suggestions? Thanks! John
Google will consider it as double-serving and not show the ads http://adwords.google.com/support/aw/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=14179
yes. I tried to do the same think. and google did not like it. I don't know if that was the reason my adword account with google with terminated. No reason given what so ever....
Dear I think this idea is not good for you if your conversion rate doing well so you have to expand your campaigns looking for new people interesting in your product by expand your advertising area. if you run a search campaign so try the content campaign if it sound good. create a banner ads. create a general ad groups that will got you more traffic but be aware to up your CPA. many different method to expand your marketing without new website and sure if you create a new website for same product and you will use the same campaign you will compete your self. hope this recommendations help you. Thanks Google Adwords Advertising professional
I don't care to explain why, but you WILL be competing against yourself if you do as described by yourself above. Just don't.
