I have been running sites for awhile now and never gone down the route of paid advertising. Has anyone had success with this method before? If so, with who?

I pay for advertising and am having success. I use Google Adwords and just created a Yahoo Advertising account. I'd like to note that it takes time and one should expect to loose a bit of money before they've collected enough data to make educated decisions. I think it depends on what you're hoping to achieve by paying for advertising. Is it branding, Selling (conversions), etc.

Paid advertising can have it's benefits. You have to do some good research before choosing who to buy traffic from. I like Yahoo Answers. If you like using a service like that. They can generate tons of traffic to your site or blog.

Well, I certainly wouldn't buy ads from the network in your sig then, if you don't know if they work or not.

Advertising is really hard to get into, i used to be a heavy advertiser, buying traffic and stuff, but now, after the organic route i see the money is wasted as opposed to free traffic.

    Organic all the way.

Are you currently making any sales?

Before you head over to paid traffic you want to make sure you offer converts. Conversion is where the money is at not traffic. You could have 1000's of visits but if you page does convert whats the point.

I see so many people spend months writing articles. Trying to get traffic to an offer when the offer totally sucks. All those hours put in for nothing.

Paid advertising does work but you have to make sure you have a page that converts first. I would higher copywriter if you are using a sales page. If not you can using story selling in your marketing
