Linking to 2.0 sites

I'm thinking of linking from 2.0 websites to my domain (money site). Some SEO people suggest building rss links, social networking links, mass article links, etc. to the Web 2.0 site rather than linking directly to the domain.

Should I link to a specific post that contains the URL? Or should I link to the homepage? If so, should I try to embed the link in the template?

From what I understand the main homepage carries more weight and lots of times the inner pages don't get indexed (but I've never tried linking directly to them before).

    Thanks

It really depends on what your trying to do, when building links from web 2.0 pages, mainly in forms of link wheels, it's pretty much vital you build some backlinks to the web 2.0 page, otherwise the backlink is more or less pointless, it depends on what page your targeting, if you want to rank #1 for a keyword, which goes to a certain page, then promote that page, with that keyword.

I've never had a issue of having inner-pages of a website/blog not being indexed, so I can't see why you/anyone else would.

Thanks for the reply. I'm mostly concerned with not having a link on the homepage pointing back to my money sites (plural). If it were just one site I could just use the URL in every post, but I'd like to link to multiple sites. It's not a linkwheel, it's more so just individual 2.0 sites that links to multiple domains.

    Thanks

There isn't any need to have a link back, you really want to go with one-way links, not two-way links, my advice would be to build pages with good content, unique content, long posts, good images and what not, then leave 1 backlink per 250 words or so.

Once you've done this, build a large amount of backlinks to the page, my advice would be to either buy cheap backlinks, or build them yourself though blog commenting etc.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, I meant linking from the 2.0 site homepage to my domain (money site). My domain won't link back to the 2.0 sites. I'm reffering to not having a link on the 2.0 homepage. But I guess that'll mean I have to visit each site and manually place a link on it? I'm using ping.fm and was going to place links in the posts, but was wondering if I needed to link to the specific post with the URL, or visit the homepage and try to place my links there instead, as the posts will eventually scroll off the homepage.

    Thanks

Go ahead and link to a 2.0 site. As for your original question, link to your homepage.

I think that the point is to build links to your 2.0 sites so that the links they are pointing at your money site(s) carry some weight; if you don't build links to them, google won't index them or give them much weight. Best of luck to you!
