Intel is playing catch up with AMD. Dollar for Dollar, AMD kicks Intels ass.

If you can afford the top tier and money is no object, try the new Intel. But if you have a budget, go AMD.

Remember new technology from Intel like the 386 math issue? I wouldn't buy first generation technology of anything.

    Anyway, good luck.

I was an Intel user for years since the 286 days... This last one I got was an AMD dual core X64 and I couldn't be happier with it and it was cheaper...

I wasn't really concered about it *Beating an Intel*... It plays DOOM III, Quake IV, PREY perfectly and Photoshop and everything else running to my liking...

I also run SETI@Home on both Cores and it had some of the fastest times recorded while working on units...

Basically I'm happy with it and pretty much either AMD or Intel will do what any home user wants it too... If your doing "Number Crunching, Animations, and Video Editing" then you may want to look closer at the Specs & Benchmarks of both processors... RAM is also important for running those...

Why even ask when "real facts" can be had with a simple search on ask.com or yahoo.com?

What one believes and fact are usually very very different.

All my pcs except my laptop have been AMD and I think they are great processors. Whenever I buy a new pc I always prefer AMD because they are cheaper and better than Intel.

I would agree, AMD seems to be better for running high intensity apps and games. But the processing power of an Intel is great.
