    I vote for estibot.

There used to be LeapFish or something like that but it was more of a fun tool instead of an appraisal as its valuations were mostly astronomic or funny :)

Weird thing. I checked two of my domain names. And I'm getting the same prices at both appraisal tools (estibot and valuate). One is $8700 and the other is $1100. I think both sites are using the same algorithm hmm...

yes get same results with both tools. Though valuate has another function that allows to check trademark infringement:)

Oh thanks for the heads up. It is an original tool actually. If there is anyone wondering where it is, when you valuate your domain, on appraisal page there is a dropdown menu, just select the second option.

But it's a little bit simple. It only checks for the "hunter" companies. And trademark infringement actually depends on how you use your domain.

Valuate is a great tool too but I still vote for Estibot because of its detailed appraisal page (stuff like graphics, similar sales, monthly search stats etc.).

    Valuate is 'Powered by Estibot'
... doesn't anybody see hat on Valuates home page??

    They are the SAME figures.

... But yes... Estibot gives a much nicer breakdown - an 'Enhanced' valuation

these also SEEM best because they try to only valuate the domain name itself - they don't count traffic or links or anyother peripheral breakdowns... which, to me anyway, is what I'm asking for in a "Domain" appraisal.

    Enjoy all

I know this thread is over a year old but thought I would use it to respond to a point made and to ask the question over again.

Both these companies now restrict you for the free search. estabot.com restricts you to one search a day while valuate.com restricts you to a total of five domains a day.

I was a paid member of estabot for years but I just don't use it enough anymore to justify the expense. I only use it to check 20 or 30 domains a month now before renewing and seldom buy new domains.

So does anybody know of a good domain name appraisal site that is still free to use? One where you can check 10 domains during a day if you need to check that many? I know I could wait and check 5 each day but I hate waiting. :)

Actually traffic and links are two of the prime considerations for a domain name, especially if you plan on using it for the same niche.

A domain name that 6000 back links in Google certainly has more value than a new domain name that has never been listed in Google. I can rank a domain name with 6000 old back links that still exist in Google on the first page of Google within three days of placing a site on it while it will take me a month to rank a new domain name without any back links on the first page of Google.

And existing traffic definitely has value if your new site is based on the keywords that are generating that traffic. This value is due to the same reasons that a store location in a mall costs more than a stand alone store location or a store location in a strip mall. If you have traffic from the day you open the web site you can start making sales the day you open the web site.

If the domain name does not have existing traffic then you will not make any sales until you do enough work to get on the first page of Google or otherwise generate traffic for the domain name.

Yes, if I am trying to buy an existing domain I will make the argument that indexed pages in search engines, existing links in search engines and existing traffic to the domain name is meaningless but don't try that on me when I'm selling, as it doesn't work. :) Just as it does not work for the malls when they lease their retail space, as they know their existing traffic is the prime factor in their rental rates.

These factors are the primary reasons I did not depend on estabot.com when I was selling a domain name but only used them for rough estimates of value when I was purchasing a domain name. I knew that most of the time they under valued the domain names they appraised.
