Say I go on a blog... and create the user name "Blue Widgets" and post under that name, with my link www.buybluewidgetsnow.com

Is that blog link worth the same as posting my blue widgets IN the body of the blog post?

    Or are they equal???

Yeha, the link in the body of an article worth more than footer or sidebar links, why ? because the anchor text-link is embedded in the content of an article and is around relevant content .

Definitely the links in the body are worth more. Charroseo explained it pretty well.

As Google continues to reign as the top search engine referral source, we all continue to check our PageRank (Download the Google Toolbar to view a web page's PageRank score).

So what about making your name the keyword you want........ and that links to you.... for instance I pick the user name on a forum called Blue Widgets ... and have my http:// linked to that anchor and start posting away

the thing about "blog roll" and footer links, though is that you appear on multiple pages of a site. So, if a certain story on a blog gets really popular, and receives a lot of content updates, that could potentially:

    a. add more value to your link for being on that page

    b. put your link in front of more people who may click on it than anchor text in a less popular blog post.

and also it depends on the PR of the blog. Try to contant more bloggers who own good blogs in higher PR.

I've gotten better rankings from guest blog posts I've done with lower PR than posts I've done with higher PR, so I don't think blog PR has a lot to do with it.

I think it could have something to to do with the popularity of the post itself.... or how many times that page gets updated that ultimately determines how much juice it passes to your link.
