I find this sickening and terrifying; it is quite possibly (imho) the worst way to die.

 

What a culture this people are.

 

These two are the extreme extensions of family values that plague societies proving their self serving motivations against the innocence as their prey - nothing can describe them properly but obviously no where for them in the Garden and maybe their extreme evil is a glimpse of mans overall problem that must be recognized and defeated.

Incidentally this really only happens in Islamic countries, to girls. Muslims hate women?

 

This is a really terrifying culture. Do they implement still this kind of honour killing? Muslims really hate those women who do befriended activity with boys I guess.

That's really sad. Even worse, it's just one case of several thousand honor killings every year. Another frightening aspect of that story is that they have nine children. This is a big family, it's hard to believe that only the father and grandfather knew what happened. How could your mother, sister, brother remain silent while you are buried alive?

I'm not sure if this belongs here, but I was reading about a female singer that happens to be Muslim. Her music speaks out against violence, such as honor killings. Here is one of her videos, and her comments about it.

I don't understand such behavior. What do these sinners want to prove here? What do they get/make out of it? Children and family are like plaything for them

 

This is traditions , and express ignorance of that person not the whole society or religion.
Killing is a great crime in Islam .

 

If killing is a great crime then why do you kill gays? Or as you referred to them earlier, "Mental Heads".

Indeed you are right about one thing though, killing is a Muslim tradition - they kill their daughters for dressing wrong, meeting males, their sons for being gay .... it's very fucked up, actually.

Yes, if I am fucked up because I am appalled that a young girl was buried alive in the name of Allah, then I am insanely fucked up, and proud of it.

I support gays, I support the right of kids not to be buried alive by their parents and I support the right of women to not be told what they can and cannot do by men who will beat them for "disobedience".

Hey... I'm from Turkey and you guys are blaming a religion, a nation and a culture for just a sick, ignorant family or tribe. Let me give you some information from inside of this country.

First of all I'm not a muslim, I'm a Deist, I don't believe in religions. So be sure that this post is not coming from a radical, ignorant muslim.

Secondly I'm not going to defend this act, it's pure sickness.

Thirdly, Turkey's west and central parts are richer, more educated and more modern than the eastern part. I assure you there are cities in Turkey that are more free, modern and developed than a lot of cities in Europe. Like Izmir the city where I live. In these cities, women and gays (alexispetrov, hi by the way ) are free to express theirselves, free to do whatever they want. And also my city is the proud of the laical, secular, modern people because we have never voted for the conservative party in our lives. Because of that, conservative party leader and prime minister called our city "infidel". After that sentence this was the reaction of people in Izmir at next elections. Anyway back to the topic;

Eastern part of Turkey still has poverty, a horrific amount of lack of education and people are living in really bad conditions out there. This is because of 30 years of seperatist Kurdish terrorism, climatic difficulties and government's policies. Terrorism is so effective there that lots of TEACHERS got kidnapped and killed in the past by PKK. Also people in the eastern region are under the effect of so-called religious or non-religious (tribal) rules. So think about how it is hard to increase education quality there. There are a lot of organizations (1,2,3,4,5) in Turkey to encourage parents sending their girls to school (for eastern part because other parts generally don't have such a problem) and provide education opportunity for poor people but still there are some families and fathers resisting this idea. People are living there like tribes and there are so many weird traditions in these tribes.

But these stuff generally just happens at spesific regions with worse life conditions and lesser education. You can't blame a whole religion or a culture for this. This is a modernizing country. Turkey gave the right for women to vote and to be elected in 1934 while France, Italy, Japan, Greece and Belgium gave that right many years later to their women. Turkey has a lot of universities giving higher quality education than lots of universities in Europe. And there are a lot of other stuff if you want to see.

European Union's problem is because of these ignorance they are blaming the whole country and they don't want to help Turkey. You can't ignore a nation which is trying to modernize and improve itself. You help them. If you refuse to help on modernization then some conservative people will raise their voices and it'll just slow down the process.

And about the religion, as I said I don't believe in religions. And I know there are a lot of mistakes in Quran that makes me believe it is fictional like any other religion in the world but let me tell you something, Quran never tells to their people to "bury" their daughters, treat like animals to their women or children. As awinsjclarke told above, Quran even tells the opposite of this. These stuff happens because of ignorant and radical people who translate and use Quran for their sick behaviours.

In this century, there are still members of AMISH and some other christians behaving to their women like they are different. This is just about education.

All I want to say please don't generalize what happens. Every country may have some kind of sick person or family or tribe like this and blaming everyone in that country is just racism or prejudgment.

Please rest assured that in these threads very few people actually blame all of Turkey, most are just sickened by yet another Muslim "honor killing".

I will say this though; the Qu'ran does allow a man to strike his wives/wife under certain circumstances, so long as he doesn't hit her face or leave marks, etc.

It has many, many parts that unfortunately are sickening and wrong and which many Muslims continue to live by even in this day and age - the fact that in countries with Sharia law a women might be beaten publicly for drinking alcohol, a person can be stoned to death for adultery.... it is no good.

I assure you that at least personally I am not generalizing Turkey, my disgust here is for the Muslims who continue to support this kind of thing along with the execution of gays, whipping of women, etc.
