Anyone else got the email alert after withdrawal (Indian Paypal Users) ??

Did you have the negative balance after you have the money credited in your bank account ???

 

have some knowledge of Indian foreign currency acts and they are very strict on sending out foreign currency and also receiving it , most likely the problem is coming from that end now. if you look it at carefully paypal could be used as perfect money laundry system without any records. just a quick example let's say iam indian and it is no big secret that you can open a/c in states without even going there and get a atm card too , same applies for some other countries. i receive money in my pp a/c which is linked to bank a/c out side india and i walk into any atm and withdraw indian ruppes totally tax free and without any records , this is even serious then money laundering such funds could be easily used for anti indian activities too , i think the indian govt has just woken upto this loop hole in paypal system . for small transactions it does not mean much but imagine some hundreds of dollars making in like this over yrs . and there could some other ways too this is just one.

now if you choose 'goods' and attach address you are traceable and liable for import and export duties if the funds land in your bank a/c .

nothing personal it's just business i think indian is just doing what it should to safeguard their laws

 

PILs dont take 10 years to resolve lol.. and if they do have headquarters in India i think RTI is a good option even a branch should do

How can it be Negative..as paypal says it has reversed the payment and I did not receive it....

It clearly is a BUG

 

i think the Chennai one is a back office they don't entertain any Customers

Edit: riamathews quite a lot of people are having the same problem i got 50 Euros from a friend on 3rd feb converted to USD and then INR transferred to bank PP showed Completed Then Reversed it today and now i have 69 USD negative balance.Even though when withdrawing i Ordered for 85 USD with .17 USD still in the account.So Lost quite a lot due to the conversion and Reversal of Rs 250 INR from bank plus 50 INR for less than 7k withdrawal.

So PP is charging Double Fees Now.

If that is the case, Paypal would have just mentioned this in their website and save all the negative publicity that they are getting right now. They would just blame the Indian government and come out with their hands clean.

Also, it is not easy to open a bank account without proper documents. The KYC norms are being implemented by banks in a very strict manner and RBI can even cancel the banking licence of banks which open accounts without verifying the identity of their customers. Banks have taken this quite seriously.

Even if you consider the case of opening an account with a US bank, your address will still be there with the US bank. The KYC norms of US banks is much more stricter when compare to those of Inidan banks especially after the patriot act has been passed. Besides, if that was the case, paypal could just remove the ability to withdraw to US bank accounts.

If you have the money credited in your bank account and then paypal displays Negative Balance...it makes sense...But I did not receive my payment yet and paypal displays negative..does it mean that it has already been dispatched to my bank...Then why this delay in crediting ??????

Thats because it shows completed in Status but the reality is it is reversed. So you have been charged double fees.

 

Someone tried doing that already yesterday and mentioned that it is not possible to make it past the security area without a valid identity card.

Not sure about this. But luckily for me the funds already got credited in my bank account
