hey guys i'm 17 and new here, thanks for taking the time to read my question.

I plan to create a high school blog and also a stock trading blog.

I've been looking through several pages regarding which site offers the best hosting and am utterly confused. Every time I think I find a good hosting site I google it and something turns up. I really cannot find any un-biased advice.

What type of hosting do i need? can you please refer me to a good site?

It depends on your needs. If you are looking to host blogs, you may want to find a host that specialize in blog hosting, as they optimize the servers for blog performance (eg. WordPress). Storage and bandwidth should not be an issue since you are just starting, but ensure your hosting is scalable for future growth.

If you need recommendation, I would suggest downtownhost.com.

You will need wordpress for easy manage.
Any host will do,the most critical part of host is uptime and support.
You probally can get for $10-$20/years if only host wordpress.

Honestly, I believe shared hosting will satisfy your needs. Usually shared hosting starts at $3 per month, and it should work fine in your case.

You can also check out our website for shared hosting offers, and use coupon code DigitalPointSpecial for $2 monthly discount.

Shared hosting means that you share the same server with other clients. It's the most common and popular type of hosting.

I don't think there will be a huge performance gain... I mean lots of other factors could easily make the performance gain negligible.

liamthewhite, there are some hosts that offer only blog hosting. It is slightly cheaper than the regular hosting, but you will not have as much flexibility. e.g. I don't think you can add your own themes and plugins, or whether you can add a custom MX record (using which you can setup Google Apps for email for your domain, and have yourname@yourdomain.com mail id).

The advantage is that you do not have to bother about upgrading wordpress, etc, but that isn't difficult to do anyway.

See this list for some large, popular webhosts, which I would say, safe choices: www.webhostlist.in/plans/paid

Shortlist some of those based on your requirements/budget (you can use search too), then you can ask for opinion on those here. There is no "best" host and different people will give you different suggestions, just pick one out of the good ones that matches your requirements and budget! :)

True it's quite difficult to find an unbiased review. The more you Google the more you're confused.

Try to shortlist some hosts. Next, give them several pre-sales questions. But really it's just the beginning. You have to try it for some time to get the real picture.

Since you're just starting, imho you may go to any host you've filtered before. Don't forget to keep your website's backup handy just in case. Good luck.

look for basic hosting. Doesn't look like you need too much space, bandwidth or other resources. $5-6 month would get you pretty good hosting from a reliable company. you can check webhostingtalk.com - their offers section is pretty well enforced - DP has one too but the rules differ greatly.

mentos meant that for wordpress-only hosting. But I wouldn't recommend WP-only hosting, due to the lack of flexibility and not much difference in price. You can easily get hosting for $3.5-4 / mo for the first 1-2 yrs then ~$6+ for subsequent years. I would have recommended DreamHost and HostGator, but they're a bit expensive (~$10/mo for hosting unlimited websites).

Check the link that I posted in my last reply, you can see how much the hosting will cost for first 1-2 yrs and after that (the price that's striked out). Also check the offers and search section for current discounts, etc offered by some hosts.

In the begging try to focus in a shared hosting package, if your website will grow up then your hoster will discuss with you the next step. My opinion is to not jump from a hoster to hoster , do a good marketing research , find a hoster near to your budget and you will be fine .

shared hosting is common hosting plan. It cost you around $4 to $10, in shared you share the server with many other customers. There are also less than $4 hosting plan in which they have too many customer in a single server. In common term i can say, if you are in a college hostel, you will share with one or 2 of your classmate this is common, just think that you share your room with 30 other people you find difficult in all aspect of living there.

Same goes in shared hosting look for one hosting provider they not share the server with too many people.

I prefer check one of this shared hosting company.

    Hostmonster
    Hostupon
    Hostgator
    Host.co.in

This companies have good reputation and good customer care service. In case of host.co.in is a Indian company but have server in US and UK and i personally used then i will say they are very good in customer care.

I am not owner of any of the above host and also i didn't gave any affiliate link so its unbiased one.
