ok, so here i am with the most basic question one could ask: how do i go about targeting a long tail keyword on my site/blog?
if it's a single word i would repeat it many times in my articles. but when i want to target a string of words, a phrase, how do i do it do i have to mention the entire phrase multiple times? how do i ensure that google reads the entire phrase and indexes me for it and not just the individual keywords?

for example, if i wanted to target "car seats for toddlers" would i keep writing the entire phrase in my article?

i know this is a basic question, but a DP search didn't yeild satisfactory results.

    thanks :)

Yes, you should mention the entire phrase each time to rank it. Besides that you will rank for single words "car", "seats"....
It was always interesting for me how Google identifies phrases (complex keywords) in a long sentence because there can be many combinations of words...

Well, recommended density is 3-4%. That means that a keyword or a phrase keyword should appear in the text like 3-4 times per 100 words.
By the way, remember that you should write your phrase in the right order to make it be ranked by Google exactly the way you want...
P.S. My opinion is that you should target your customers and not Google. Sometimes it is hard to conform to that density law because the text becomes unnaturally filled with keywords. So in this case better make it more readable but with less keywords.

    Hi,

No specific answer for this, tough.

    This is my advice..

Make sure you have your targeted keyword phrase in your page title, article title, first sentence/paragraph of your articles, and another two-three times in your article body.

On top of that, include your targeted keyword phrase as H1, H2 or H3 Tags as well as Alt Image Tag if you have photo/image in your article.

Then use your targeted keyword phrase as Anchor Link to link back to your article from other websites.

Just shoot me a PM if you need further assistance in Keyword Research

    Good luck.
