So we all know that the higher the page rank the better the backlink. So does Google give your site backlink credit for the sites page rank or the rank of the page itself. For example I have a deeplink on a PR6 site but that link happens to be on a PR0 page...do I get credit for a PR6 or PR0 backlink (assuming both links are DoFollow)? Thoughts?
Yep, the PageRank. No one knows exactly what all 200+ variables invovled with Google's algorithm for search engine rankings, but PageRank is one of those determining factors. If the link is on a very new page (on that PR 6 site) it may have a PR0 because it is so new as we only see the PR toolbar update five times a year.
You will get credit only for the PR 0 page. Having said that High PR site tends to get crawled more then low PR site which means that the 0 PR page will get indexed soon enough which means your backlink will be recognized by google faster
Am I sure about the PR toolbar updating five times a year? That's just an estimate. My point was that even though the toolbar tells us one thing, we can investigate a little further and figure out is the page is a worthwhile source or not.
