About 2 years ago I build and developed my own website. At the time I had no clue how to optimize my site myself. I went ahead and outsourced some of my SEO work on DP. I had people submit to directories, submit articles, post on a few forums, and do some blog commenting. After 3 months of not seeing much increase in traffic, I decided to dump the project on move on. My site was a small niche site, and I was ranked on the second page of google. However, there where 2 monsters that owned the top ranking. When I decided to quit the project. I was on the second page, and had 200 or so backlinks. After not renewing my hosting I decided to wait until I had the money (and time) to start the project back up. Last night I decided to see how many backlinks my site had. To my surprise I had over 6000. I was in shock, from 200 to 6000 in 1 year of not doing any SEO. I'm assuming this was because most of the 200 directories and 500 blogs I paid for service had finally kicked in. My question is this, If I buy a year of new hosting and start doing my own SEO and update the site a little. How long would it take to get back near the top. Would Google give me credit for my old backlinks and domain age?
So you took down/deleted this site? With all those backlinks after a year whats the position of the site now? I had a similar site. It sat around for a year or two. After I started working on it again it took about a month or so before I was back at the top.
