Visual Basic for mobile phone apps?

Okay quick question, I have an opportunity to work with another programmer who has a desktop program that is written in Visual Basic, which we would like to convert to a program for use (and compatible) with mobile phones.

Is this possible with Visual Basic? and if so, what would be the process? How would one go about converting a Visual Basic Program to a mobile phone ready version!??

Im new to programming so I think this would be a cool experience to kind of "intern" with this programmer!

    Thanks for any/all replies!

If the mobile phone you're talking about is a Windows device, it would be easy. If you're going from .NET to a platform that's not Windows mobile, it'll be a complete rewrite of the app from scartch.

Thanks for your reply! Are there any compiled comprehensive listings of what phones take which software? Or whatever platforms they run off of etc. I'm still new to all of this so I have not developed a comprehensive understanding of all of this yet.

Are there any programming languages that work for all phones so we don't have to re write it over and over again?

    Thanks for your input!!

My advise, create web app with mobile screen support. This is the future.

How might one go about that? and how would one control who has access to it (ie if we were selling it to customers?)
