First you need to choose what words and phrases you wish to be number 1 for, the big money phrases will be tough and will take time and hard work, some of the others, those with less competition will be easier.

Take some time and try to find relevent terms that have low competition but a reasonable number of searches, if you are selling a product a 1% conversion is realistic (you can get better with work and this is a place to get that sort of help) but think that for every 100 visitors you can hope for 1 sale then work on your SEO and link building from there.

 

Can you share some tips on making backlinks? Are backlinks when two sites point at each other or is it like posting in this forum with a link to your site?

its tough work just to rank at all i'm spending about 15 hr days getting backlinks in do follow blog comments and forums. Finally got ranked in forum hope to get higher soon mabey even top page some day. I realized words like forum have very very high competition so now im still working on that but concentrating on 200,000,000 or less easier to do. Keep it up takes lots of effort or deep pockets.
