Learn how to promote your business on facebook and you could be smiling all the way to the bank.

Social networking sites present a goldmine of opportunity for internet marketers and with over 350 million active users on facebook its easy to use this site to create an awesome sales funnel that could see your business leads and ultimately your sales skyrocket. But be warned facebook has stringent useage policies and if you breach them your site will vanish and all your hard work will be lost.

So how do you safely promote your business on facebook ?

The trick with facebook is to promote your business indirectly using facebook fan pages. Remember facebook is a social site and both facebook policy and site users frown upon marketers who invade the site with a sell, sell ,sell mentality. To be successful you have to play the social networking game. Bombard people with opportunity marketing and you will struggle to build a fan base and risk getting your site shut down.

To promote your business effectively on facebook follow the steps outlined below:

Step 1:Set up a facebook account
Invite all your friends and associates to be your friend. Seek out old friends and reconnect as these people can be a great source of business leads. Understand that your friends will automatically receive your information updates every time you post. This includes photos, videos and anything else you post. To draw people into your facebook sales funnel you need to present a successful lifestyle so always post tasteful information that shows the quality of your life. Most importantly make it fun, after all facebook is a social network.

Step 2: Set Up a Facebook Fan Page.
This is essential if you wish to promote your business without risking getting banned. The trick with Facebook is to promote your business opportunity through your fan page. This is the place where you can place links to your websites, blogs and squiddo lenses. With your Facebook fan page in place you are now ready to start driving customers to your opportunity. The bonus is people who subscribe to your fan page will now receive all your business advertising updates.

    Step 3: Join Facebook Groups
When you join a facebook group you can post to the group wall meaning that all group members will see your post. The correct way to promote your business using groups is to first post the business information you want people to see to your fan page and then post updates to your groups with links to your fanpage. While this strategy works do not post excessively on people’s walls or group walls. Facebook will view this as spam and abuse of their terms of service and will block you from posting for several hours. If you continue to do this often, your account of may be terminated. Lastly, when posting to groups make sure the content is relevent to the group.

Step 4: Set Up Your Own Group
Setting up your own group can be a great wat to promote your business. Creating your own group gives you a platform to market. You can have unlimited friends, send mass email, do more promotions, and offer interest driven information. For example I run a record label, Balcony Records. I have a Balcony Records group on facebook that allows me to post important information about upcoming music releases, events and label and industry associated news. We also use the group to post photos and videos of our events and then broadcast new postings to the entire group. Photo and video content is highly viral in nature as our group members often share and tag this content. This is a very simple strategy that you can use to promote your business.

Follow the steps above and you will be well on the way to developing a platform for business success. This article is only the tip of the iceburg. To learn more about how to promote your business on facebook and turn your facebook fans into paying customers get my free marketing training

i would use caution when sending mass messages to your group members. Even I get tons of facebook messages and it gets annoying. People can easily report them as spam. Just make sure what ever you send out is quality messages that users might enjoy reading. Put a catchy subject line.

Posting messages is spam full stop, if you include a link then you run the risk of someone reporting you, if you are the only admin for the group, the position will be offered to the first person that visits the group and presses the button that says "become admin" to avoid losing your group always try and have 3 or 4 admins, post something on the group like i need admins to help me promote this group, then no one will batter an eyelid when there are 4 of you.

If you want to have accounts that don't get banned you need thousands, maybe 2000, then if you add 500 friends per account you will have 1 million members, if you lose an account who cares you have only lost 500 and not 5000 friends

I see facebook as an extension to my already existing network.

On my forum, I have a link to my facebook page. My youtube account and my facebook accounts are linked - so that when I post a video on youtube, its posted on facebook at the same time.

I guess most of my facebook promotion is on other sites. People see my facebook link on my other sites, follow it and become my friend on facebook.

    Hi,

we have done a custom application on facebook for a company, a contest where you posted a photo of you with the look of that company and people voted for you and, if they wanted, this story was display on their wall.. and it worked pretty well! A lot of visibility and emails for that company.

A great way to use facebook to promote a company!

lol yeah if you do it all by hand, but even then you could make 2000 accounts in a little under 2 months, depends on how motivated you are to make money, and if you see the benefit in investing time now for a residual income later I suppose
