    I am planning to create a site like cnn, news.yahoo.com , is there a free cms for this purpose or minimal price.

    I'd recommend Joomla (www.joomla.org). It is very customizable as long as you know what you're doing. Otherwise you can hire a designer to give it the look/feel you want.

    Yeah or you can buy SubDreamer which is a really nice CMS for all big and small sites.

    check both of these both are good but little $$$$$$$$$$

    Joomla is the option to go for. You can add RSS/XML feeds, syndicate content, add polls, subscribe members, add links and do so much more with the ad-ons and installations available for Joomla.

    www.phpcow.com is okey but very expensive, I try their 7 day trial, but seems their system is very complicated. So I decided to try SoSovn not as nice as the two above mentioned but easier to use and little bit cheaper.
