    Regarding this thread:

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=133627

    Here is the answer!

He will make $15,000 in less than 30 days!!

    Here is how:

He registered a domain for $10 or less http://www.15kchallenge.com/ NOT EVEN INDEXED BY GOOGLE YET!

He went to a forum and posted a new thread about the $15,000 challenge.

A bunch of people signed up to see if he would be able to do something like that and TONS of people gave him their NAMES AND EMAIL ADDRESS.

He sold the mailing list to another person for $15,000

There you go, he made $15,000!!!

    Awesome Marketing!!

I had to create a new thread so everybody could see the answer!!

    LOL

How can he sell the names and contacts without some sort of agreement by the end user? Theres no disclaimer, selling this for SPAM could get him in big trouble.

Well usually this kind of marketers dont think about legal problems and it is very difficult to put them in jail, however if he sells the list sombody else will probably spam and not him....

I doubt anyone will pay 15k for his list. Let him try and make his money, don't give your email address if you don't want, read and learn from him, or ignore him.

How many emails would he need to get $15,000?

I dont know why he wanted peoples emails (i thought it was to be in with a chance of winning the $15k?), but even if he does sell it, you just have to block a few more emails each day. I get soo many junk email everday, another few wont make any differnce.

There is no any sort of privacy policy posted on his site - once you gave him your email adress he's perfectly free to do whatever he wants with your contact. of course it wont be him who'll be spamming you so you wont be able to justify how come your contact ended up in spammers database.

first name and email won't sell for that amount, even if you had million of them, not enough data for the potential buyer.

The best way to see what is he about, just get a free email account and use it for his site only.

    Hey, That's quite funny.

It reminds me of a story here in Australia.

A man bought a list of emails off a telecom company, all of which were earning $200,000 pa or more. He sent half of them an email saying that a certain stock was going to go up and he also sent the other half, an email saying the same stock was going to go down.

After the stock went up, he then concentrated on the first half of email addresses, throwing away the other half that would have seen him get it wrong. He repeated the process, sending half of the first half an alert that the stock would continue going up, and the other half of the first half, that the stock would now go down.

This time the stock went down. He then repeated the whole process again.

After doing this a few times, he had a smaller portion of emails addresses which had all seen him pick the direction with 100% accuracy.

He proceeded to sell them tickets to his seminar at $50,000 a pop, and subcriptions to his web site at $10,000 a pop. He made a lot of money and apparently now lives somewhere in southern europe.

    You've got to laugh!

Several people have asked how many email addresses would be worth 15k.

Well, it depends on who's buying the list and how good the list is.

Give me a list of the personal email addresses of the CEO's of the fortune 500 and I'll pay you much more than $15k.

Give me a list of 1 million web harvested email addresses and I won't give you anything for them.

I would say a "quality opt-in list" would be worth at least $2.00 - $20.00 per address. It's a wide range but there is just so much difference in the quality of lists...

    Non-quality lists would be $0.1 - $2.00 per address.

At least that is what I would pay...
