Pesky Tropical Storm Ernsto. Oh well. I'm waiting it out.

Ernesto has proven to be a dud. Not that that's a bad thing. Being as I'm in Charleston, SC, I'm sitting directly in it's path. I guess as long as internet stays up and the power stays on, I'll be a happy man - able to work on my sites while sipping cold beer and watching the rain fall outside my window.

I think the funniest thing I heard all day was a lady from New Hampshire saying that she was "worried about the levees in Charleston." That kind of comment makes it kind of funny that southerners get the bad rap for being dumb and slow and notherners are reputed for being bright and sharp. Oh well.

What a great way to work! :D

Be glad for what you now have...

The next time may not be as good...

Look into "History" and then see what may be in store...

Er...you may want to look into "history" yourself there, bud. Charleston has been notorious for getting pummeled by hurricanes. Since I've lived both here and coastal Florida almost all my life, I know a thing or two about them.

While you're checking your "history" (your quotes, not mine) go ahead and check your "geography" (quotes added to annunciate the absurdity of your quotes) also. You'll see that there ARE NO LEVEES IN CHARLESTON, HENSE THE HUMOR.

Whatever happened to actually thinking about what was said before replying to a thread?

Hey, I'm in Charleston too. Funny I just made a post about this in the introduction forum. I live in the Downtown area and we were getting beat up pretty bad this morning but things have calmed down considerably.

I was saying that during the spring - when it was REALLY dry here. We need a hurricane to get the grass green again. But this summer (it seems to me at least) has been the wettest I've seen in a forever around here. Almost too much water, sometimes, with the heavy rains every afternoon.

Nice area. My family owns a vacation house in the Orlando area, and I usually spend my spring break down there hitting up the Spring Training games. Caught a couple Devil Rays games as well. Different vibe, definitely a cool place.

Yeah, downtown is flooded right now I bet. The crosstown is shutdown, last I heard on 96 Wave. I'm on James Island so it's not too bad out here.

We were getting some good rain for a while but I think it's dying down now. I just hope this little Ernesto thing doesn't lull people into a false sense of security. I can still remember when Hugo pummelled us in '89.

Hey, the Devil Rays are going to be somewhere in a few years. I really think it (*smirk*) ... though Delmon Young is really something. I'm a huge Braves fan.

It's not the heat that gets me about Florida, it's the humidity. It can be downright stiffling.

I used to live in Tampa and I don't think the humidity there was as bad as it is here in Charleston. The breeze from the Gulf seemed to cool it down quite a bit. Orlando is an armpit, though.
