It happened a few times already i see someone being a vendor, posting a screenshot like: 21 Hops...1 Sale "HURRAY! Sell my product it converts 1:21!" Do you people have any grasp of basic math? How can you make such statements and statistics based on your first number of like 20 hits to your site? I understand you are excited that you got traffic and sales, but you cant simple make such statements based on very little traffic. and your very first sale! Show me 500 hits, 1000 hits..and then your hops/sale statistics...or over a period of a month or two. If you do such things like claiming your product converts 1:21 based on your first 21 hits to your site....you sound not very credible to me! The average conversion rate of clickbank products is often higher, even 1:50 or 1:60 or maybe even 1:85 would not even be a big problem (you can ALWAYS increase conversions with good pre-sell pages!), but its a problem if a vendor claims things like "converts "1:21" or even better which is simply not credible. Sorry...had to vent.
I totally agree with you. it is really crazy that vendors do this. I mean, new affiliates who really don't know how things work will believe the info and start promoting hoping to get a sale after 21 hops, or maybe 30 if things go the other way. But when they notice that 100 hops have gone by and no sale made yet, ehmm, they begin to wonder if they have everything right.
I know you people are talking about my product launch, but let me tell you I have tested this product with paypal till I got 10 sales and I have got similar conversions. In the month of December the conversions were even better. If you can look at the Image below you can see one of my affiliate has even better(1:2) results than 1:21. If the product was not tested then probably I have not claimed 1:21. http://www.gamecopymonster.com/Launch/Conversion2.JPG Hope you will not make issue of this.
Any conversion rates count, however we / as affiliates have to see a much higher traffic to make such strong statements. (I'd go for 10,000 / 20,000 unique visitors in order to come up with a valid conversion rate. Never the less even in small traffic certain things can be tested. Al.
Hey man, I'm not a vendor, but I'm currently promoting 3 products which convert at about 20-30 hops, and each product has made me over 10 sales. So, there are many products which convert at that rate. However, if you have a crappy landing page, you can get as high as 1:200 or 300 even, and some products just don't convert with direct linking. So, the stats the vendors give is just a general idea, you have to do the testing yourself, and if you don't make sales it may just be the wrong product for you, many other people might be promoting the same product successfully.
Exactly, that is what I want to say, you need a right mind set with right method to promote and you have to do this at right time. I don't want to show of my knowledge here, but to explain, if you promote high gravity weight loss product with direct linking to article in the period of 1 jan to 15 jan then you can easily expect 1:30 to 1:40 converstion with direct linking. This happens because of choosing right time to promote a right product with right mindset.
yes robert, you might be right. I was talking about the vendors/posters here who obviously just made a new product, then they made their first sale..like 20 hops, first sale..and then say their product converts 1:20. What math is that supposed to be? Or that one guy who just posted his reverse phone product converting 1:10. This is just nonsense.
Yeah I'm also promoting a couple of products that have an average conversion rate of 1:25 and its been the same for over an year now. I agree with GeorgR that vendors do make false claims sometimes. Your conversion rates depend upon the kind of traffic you have. So if the vendor is counting just some highly targeted US hops, that kind of conversation ratio may indeed be true. But when it comes to overall hops to sales ratio for an average affiliate, it'll be much lower. I do count my conversion ratios in terms of Visitors:Sales rather than Hops:Sales I don't invest a lot in tracking but I just check the awstats in my cpanel to see the number of visitors I got for a day and then determine my Visitors:Sales ratio. Hops to sales is for clickbank only, we should count the overall conversion ratio. That's how I personally deal with these things. I do promote some products that convert at around 1 for 100 semi targeted visitors, a real great conversion rate!
Agreed... I will say that my diet product definitely does not convert 1 in 21. Ha! But the truth is, conversion ratio varies greatly depending on a million factors. For some search phrases it may convert very well, for others not so well. With a pre lander it may convert much better than without. You know... there's all of these variables to consider. A blanket statement of a conversion rate of 1 in 74 (or whatever) doesn't really mean much.
Here is what I do with my products. I set up a very generic landing page and then run a ppc campaign with every keyword including broad terms. My goal is to get something in the 1:60 range. To me this means that someone could take some time with their marketing efforts (better landing page, narrowing of keyword selection, etc.) and get much better results. It also means that someone could put forth marginal effort and still get conversions. Although everyones techniques are different and therefore lead to different conversion rates, I think it is important to ensure that my products convert before releasing and I feel comfortable stating those conversions to potential affiliates. What I really dislike is vendors that send out to their list and claim those results as typical conversion data without stating it went to a list. My favorite is when vendors state something like "this is going to convert great" but havent made a sale yet and then seem shocked when no one will try promoting.
please confirm your product is an actual software and not a guide and that software has been developed by you or programmers you paid for and not a resell of a software template. i would also love to see some refund statistics.
Yeah I saw someone selling a cpalead site with 1 day of rev ($10) and claimed $300/month with no traffic
Your Beateczema product converts good. I have known that for a few months now. The best thing I see is that it ranks great for quite a lot of keywords too. Did these rankings come by default? I can really use some "Vendor's SEO tips" from a person like you. Please spill some of the secrets. I have followed some earlier posts of yours. All i can pay is that they were great!
I agree with the OP on this point, as it is wrong to get your first sale of a product that may have taken 21 hops then claim that it will convert ever more at 1 in 21. It may or may not. Also alot of the conversion factors come down to the way you promote, as you can send thousands of visitors although if they are not targeted enough you will find that you might not even get one sale! If you provide screenshots over time though of good and bad conversions and keep an eye on your stats you can work out how to improve your conversions in the long run. Good post! Chris
