Soda is not considered a health drink as it can make individuals more prone to diseases like obesity, diabetes, cancer and DNA damage. Each can of soda contains about 10 teaspoons of sugar, 30 to 55 milligrams of caffeine, and is loaded with artificial food colors and sulphites. It is also the largest source of dangerous high-fructose modified corn syrup. The following shows what happens in the body after drinking a can of soda: Within the first 10 minutes, 10 teaspoons of sugar hit the system. This is 100 percent of the recommended daily sugar intake. The only reason the overwhelming sweetness does not result in vomiting is because phosphoric acid cuts the flavor. After 20 minutes, the blood sugar spikes, and the liver responds to the resulting insulin burst by turning massive amounts of sugar into fat. This can later lead to high cholesterol, heart disease, diabetes, weight gain, premature aging and many more negative side effects. Within 40 minutes, caffeine absorption is complete; the pupils dilate, the blood pressure rises, and the liver releases more sugar into the bloodstream. After 45 minutes, dopamine production increases. This stimulates the brain's pleasure centers, similar to what happens following heroin use. After 60 minutes, sugar crash begins. In the long run the phosphoric acid in soda interferes with the body's ability to use calcium, leading to osteoporosis or softening of the teeth and bones. It can also neutralize the hydrochloric acid in the stomach and cause indigestion.
I enjoy drinking Soda, and it is not a huge enough risk to my health that I should sacrifice the enjoyment. There is nothing wrong with having sweets if you have them in moderation (I drink Soda when I go to restaurants and parties only), and do some kind of physical exercise to work it off (I'm a competitive swimmer, so I think that works ).
After drinking a 2-litter soda's a day I pray to the lordth and I'm healed the next day. I been drinking it pretty much my entire life and most of my teeth are still there. It's not just sodas, it's every process food that we buy and eat that contain some stuff that is hard to pronounce that maybe bad for you, but you know I guess this all depends on the persons DNA on how well it takes the beating. I think
Yeah, there's just two problems, mate. First of all, nobody can drink soda for 60 MINUTES STRAIGHT, let alone 10 minutes. Secondly, there are countless gallons of soft drinks being served every year, around the world, making lots of money, and there's nothing you can do to stop it.
in moderation a can or so wont do any harm but those who drink it daily are doing some serious damage. i used to drink 5-10 cans of coke, tango, sprite etc a day and it caused alot of bad health problems.
Drinking soda (lemonade to all the Aussies reading!) isn't bad-drinking too much IS! Same with anything-"nothing exceeds like excess"
He never said that you needed to drink for 60 minutes straight. He was just posting the effects that drinking one can has on you in the following hour.
I have a mast metabolism so I don't put on weight so i really don't see any repercussions from ingesting such crap food. The reason they still sell it is because it makes them money and thats like asking why people still smoke? Smoking is a terrible habit yet people still buy cigarettes, smoke and die but they still sell them. Why do they sell alcohol which causes people liver damage, some countries in the world such as England and even Australia have great binge drinking problems yet they still sell unlimited alcohol? The only reason drugs are illegal is because the government doesn't make any money off them. The government controls what is allowed and they allow some things because it makes them money. Thats it really. If it harms us but makes them money ,then its allowed.
Drugs can also make them money if legalized but it is the awareness before its commercialization that has saved the society. Alcohol and cigarettes(tobacco) were already doing brisk business with big multinationals already having a foot hold in it before public awareness of its danger set in. Such commercialization is proving costly for the society and corrupt governments helpless with money blocking any ban initiatives! Regards, RightMan
Always known that soda was nasty stuff. Having a single soda (can or small glass) a day doesn't interfere too much with the body as long as plenty of water is consumed throughout the day as well, but it still slows down weight loss and is bad for teeth. The people who drink around 1-2 liters a day are the ones in danger of serious health problems. I used to drink about that much, even though I was semi-active, but once I stopped drinking soda cold-turkey I felt so much better! The instant gratification of drinking soda (the taste, texture etc) is short-lived and leads nowhere but to bad health and weight gain. Everytime you find yourself going for a soda, consciously remind yourself to have some water instead (not juice, because that's just as bad as soda except for the carbonation). You'll be amazed at how quickly you will start feeling better.
I just thought it would be nice to share with everyone what happens within 60 minutes of consuming a soda. Whether you chose to drink it or not is completely up to you, right. Personally I think soda is bad, too much soda is just stupid... IMO....Shoot, just about too much of anything is stupid, to an EXTENT. I used to drink 1 soda every single day for years and then just one day decided to stop drinking it. Lost 14 pounds in a 6-8 month period and felt much better. In losing those pounds, nothing changed, meaning, diet or exercise was still the same.
Since we're on the soda subject here, I would like to add that if you were to drink a soda every day for a year, you would gain atleast 10 pounds in weight from the sugar alone. That doesn't mean you can't have a soda every now and then, but just be careful..... It's just like everything, if you do it too much it can be harmful, not enough, can be harmful as well. "Damned if you do and damned if you don't".
