site: http://www.lolroulette.com I have been trying for almost 2 years to rank this site in Google for the phrase "lol roulette", or the name of my domain. I can never seem to rank this site higher than page 5 in the search results. There are about 15 pages of content (each about 500 to 1000 words each) and about 2000 inbound links (not necessarily quality but some do contain "lol roulette" as anchor text). I've tried to get Googlebot to index the site more frequently and I already hired an SEO to create the 2000 links a few months back. The phrase "lol roulette" really isn't competitive and actually isn't too important. It's mostly the fact that I can't even rank my site for it's own domain name, which is something I think needs to be done before I rank for anything else. Please check out the site and see if you can find something wrong or if there are any extra tips I can apply just to rank for this one phrase. Thanks Best
I would suggest maybe writing some high quality articles on eZineArticles or GoArticles that use anchor text to point to your site to show Google Some more authority links. -Safe Travels
One thing wrong is "LOL Roulette" is not in the title of your index page to start off with The search term you mention is also absent from your description Changing the fist anchor text link so that you seperate the LOL from Roulette so it an anchor text link will also help.
Ok, I went to about 100 different related blogs over the last two weeks and posted comments and a link with the keyword "lol roulette". Also, I created a blog that has been running for a few days now. I also followed the tips to get a blog indexed within 24 hours here: http://www.problogger.net/archives/2009/09/21/5-ways-to-get-your-blog-indexed-by-google-in-24-hours/ In addition, I found about 30 places to "ping" my new posts to so Google should be able to see new posts and at least index them, see that my site is "lol Roulette" and rank my site for "lol Roulette" since I'm literally the only person on the internet targeting that keyword. I made a link in my signature to the blog as well which as a massive "lol roulette" H1 header on it. I also made a few new pages on the site itself outside of the blog. I noticed that Bing and Yahoo all have my site #1 in their listings for "lol roulette", but Google just seems to be purposely ignoring. As far as I'm concerned (and Bing and Yahoo), there is a huge sign pointing right at my site yet Google is the only one that can't seem to "figure it out". Anymore help?
I wrote an ezine article as well and this still hasn't improved my results. In fact, the article ranks higher than my homepage for the term "lol roulette".
O man, I was going to say the ezine article might rank higher than your website , lol, I would just keep working on backlinks.
It's possible that your massive effort is viewed by Google as a bit "spammy." Google has been known to ignore or even penalize when lots of new backlinks (as in dozens and hundreds) show up over a few days time ... even more so if some or all of those backlinks are found on sites that are not related in topic to the site being linked. For example, linking to a gambling site from a health and beauty site may do more harm than good. I'm not experienced with Bing, but it's not unusual to be ranked high in Yahoo while being totally absent in Google search results for the same phrase. Wishing all the best Dan B. Cauthron
peppy I see you sorted your title tag (well for that search term at least) but <meta name="description" content="This is a website to learn about roulette and play online casino roulette games for real money or for free. Learn how you can play no-download flash games and practice with our strategy guides and probability odds charts. Read about the different variations of the roulette game at lol Roulette."> Code (markup): Is way too long and full of so called stop words try something like <meta name="description" content="LOL Roulette - learn about roulette - play online casino roulette games for real money or for free - Learn & play no-download flash games - roulette strategy guides - roulette probability odds & charts at lol Roulette."> Code (markup): Not perfect but 10 times better than what you have/had in place Sir
Thanks Revelations-Decoder I hate doing meta tag descriptions since it seems like no one uses these anymore so I stopped putting in a lot of time to write them. I will use the one that you just made and see what happens. In general, what are the "stop words" that you mentioned? Thanks
Supposedly they are the "a" "in" at" "the" "do" "find" "and" and similar words peppy But that said I have found evidence these so called stop words can make a difference Here is an example C0mmissi0n Cart00nist and C0mmission a Cart00nist ("a" being the so called stopword) (Change the 0's for o's for proper results) My results on page 1 of G0oggle differ, so that suggests to me these so called stopwords like many things in this regards & area are a case of everyone easily jumping on the bandwagon and a case of we may all be slightly being taken for a ride imho! I have many results that differ dependent on so called stop word inclusion or being left out - it's a matter of trial and error on what works best for you
