Dmoz home page PR is 9 and their inner category page also have more than 3 PR. So I like to get listed in DMOZ.
I want to get listed in dmoz coz 1)Though it is wrong, some websites are giving unnecessary priority to Dmoz may be because in those days there were no any other quality directories.Yahoo was commercial project. So,that unnecessary priority by some big sites has made other small sites opening later to think that dmoz is something....so they also started giving priority in their algorithm to dmoz... so people started thinking of getting listed bcoz of priority given to dmoz. for eg, if your site doesnt have meta,in many case if it is listed in dmoz, google SERP shows the text from dmoz description. Now some so called website valuation website also takes dmoz listing to value a website. and see,EVEN A REPUTED SITE LIKE DP has separate section for DMOZ ,so it is given priority in many places as for now. and sometime though you know it does'nt worth listing, you have to,for the visitors who doesnt understand "why you site is not listed"... after all you you run site for visitors. So,these are the reasons. If there were not these things, dmoz will be just "another directory".They are neither technically superior, nor has any unique feature. The day every body starts ignoring it,it will have difficulty even in getting visitors to site. My analysis as business student.
In three different threads you posted 3 different things: In one you said it was removed and you do not know why. In another you said it was removed because it was down, but got relisted In this thread you claimed to have submitted and its not listed.
All of which is nothing that DMOZ can have any affect on. We cannot help or influence how people use us, or our downloads. So if Google choose to use us, that is absolutely their decision. But perhaps you should really ask yourself why Google use us. Many have suggested that it is something to do with the policy of not being influenced by PR, flashy sites, modern style of construction and not interested in trying to list as many of the suggestions as we can with clear banners that say we have no interest in any merit a listing might offer to a site.
DMOZ is like the National Lottery but without the MILLION POUND JACKPOT at the end! Just another directory. Use your time doing better SEO IMO.
