i was using dreamhost.com since 2 years but now they are just messed up, i did host my one friend's movie site and he was just hosting images on the site and rest of all links were off site, they got a copyright complain and they banned my account without any warning, this is totally messed up There are many large hosting companies but they never do like this, first they warn and then they take action even they just remove that copyright content or max they block your site but these dogs just banned the whole account without any warning be careful guys, they are very dangerous and they can harm you anytime so i'd advise to avoid using www.dreamhost.com
the copyright complaint was for the images? or the movies? and actually, if they got a legit DMCA complaint, they had to remove it as soon as possible. Some hosts would give a 24 hour or so warning but I'm not familiar with DH's policies. Hope you had backups of your sites.
So you think they should support the illegal activities of the user and leave the site up? If the user has copyright images on their site without the copyright owners permission, then that's the risk they take. It's a but much you complaining about Dreamhost, saying they are "messed up", when the only person that messed up was the idiot using the copyright images. It's time your friend learned to take responsibility for their actions and stop blaming someone else. Giving a company a bad rep for acting responsibly is just not on.
Did you bother to read their TOS about sites that are for warez and illegal download? http://abuse.dreamhost.com/copyright/ Lame to complain about a hosts policies when you're the person breaking them. If you plan on being a site that has questionable material then get a host that allows it. This is like me going to Burger King and getting mad when they won't make me a Big Mac. You chose the host and agreed to their TOS. You broke the rules.
NO i think they should warn before deleting an account otherwise what is the point we creating accounts such sites. I think its better to avoid such assholes
Sounds like you and your friend were completely at fault. DreamHost is not going to risk getting sued because one of their users has unauthorized, copyrighted materials on their website. DreamHost, as well as the majority of all web hosting providers, clearly state in their terms of service that a violation of the terms will result in a suspension, not a warning. It is important to learn the rules and follow them. In this case, you should have known better.
Web hosting companies don't have the time to warn all the ignorant users and JA's that don't care about their policies. When I start using a new web hosting provider, I take 15 minutes to read their terms of services. Yes, 15 minutes. That is not much time at all. It's just plain irresponsible to not know or follow the rules.
The user should read TOS and AUP and confirm that he has read and understood everything. If this user violate the rules - account must be deleted without any notice.
