Do listing in those low quality directories really help?

ill have to respectfully disagree with you on that one. if you want to rise in the rankings, I don;t think anyone will dispute the fact that a text link somewhere on a relevant site is way better than a directory.

spend that time more wisely searching out sites that relate to yours and askjeing them for a link, or posting in a forum.



Anyway, im sure we could go in circles on this for days.

 

Yes, that is true look for this signs of quality and longevity:
- Nice custom skins
- Domains registered for more than 1 year.
- Have normal market prices, directories that charge to little is not a very good sign.
- Owners that are active on DP.
- Have strong backlinks if new, or strong PR if old

If you want to go with the free ones could be a good long term investment more than 1 year.

 

I will not dispute your comment. But you can get relevant links through directories if you submit to the right category and write a description that will help make the page more relevant.

 

This is very important on my directory all descriptions and content are unique (I don’t use the submitted description), or else you are not getting more than a scrapper directory site .

You can always hire someone to do manual submissions for you if you are concerned about the time needed to do the submissions. You can get manual submissions at 200 or more directories at the price that you will pay to get listed at one of the big directories.
