    Hi,
I just received an email from Online Investment & Consulting LLC for a domain name. The weird thing is that my domain name is private on whois search and I didn't mentionned it online. In fact, the only place I put it is on Sedo yesterday(and bought it yesterday).

So that mean: The two only place they have my personal infos are Sedo & GoDaddy...

How could he contact me? Is he for real?

"Online Investment & Consulting LLC" is about as generic as names come. Plus this: http://ozmm.org/posts/his_name_is_robert_paulson.html ie it is the name of a famous ruby programmer

So if I had to take a guess I would say scam, mind you more information would be needed to make a more accurate measurement.

    ps: LLC definition from wikipedia:

A limited liability company or a company with limited liability (abbreviated L.L.C. or LLC or W.L.L) in the law of the vast majority of United States jurisdictions is a legal form of business company that provides limited liability to its owners. Often incorrectly called a "limited liability corporation" (instead of company), it is a hybrid business entity having certain characteristics of both a corporation and a partnership or sole proprietorship (depending on how many owners there are). An LLC, although a business entity, is a type of unincorporated association and is not a corporation. The primary characteristic an LLC shares with a corporation is limited liability, and the primary characteristic it shares with a partnership is the availability of pass-through income taxation. It is often more flexible than a corporation and it is well-suited for companies with a single owner.

Reply back with a price. If he says he'll "buy" it but wants to make sure he doesn't want to pay too much & wants an appraisal 1st which you have to pay for, it's a scam.

Do you sell domain with a web site or just the name?

Domain without content is ok with me. Web site is not necessary.

Have you had your domain names evaluated in the past? I mean domain appraisals. Without valuation we cannot be sure in the sale price. It's very important for me in terms of reselling too. But we must engage a valuation company with REAL manual service. So I will only accept valuations from independent sources I and my partners trust.

To avoid mistakes I asked domain experts about reputable appraisal companies.

Please check this blog with suggestions from other sellers and buyers:
    http://www.domainexplorer.org/Archive-09-2009/81637824.htm

If, for example, the valuation comes higher you can adjust your asking price accordingly. It will be fair. I also hope you can give me 12% - 15% discount.

After you send me the valuation via email (usually it takes 1-2 days to obtain it) we'll continue our negotiations.

What is your preferred payment method: Escrow.com, International wire transfer, PayPal.com or something else?

Hope we can come to an agreement fast.

    Looking forward to your reply.
