    So easy.

Go to amazon, or paypal shops, or clickbank, or ebay....

Type up your keyword and look at the sponsored results.

They are usually selling something related.

What I normally do when I think of a niche is to go straight to the google keyword tool and see if people are searching for the niche. I also look at the competition for the keywords. If there is low competition I will do a Google search for the keyword and see what other people are selling. Look at the PPC ads. If there are PPC ads that means there is money to be made. Find an affiliate program and start targeting those low competition keywords.

    Cheers

My biggest piece of advice and one of the favorite things I've always heard is that a niche is actually something that is on the third level from a main category. Many people try to go to broad with their niche's, really sub-categories.

    For example:

Home and Garden content is not a niche.
Kitchen content is not a niche.
Pots and Pans IS a niche. - Silicon Cookware IS a niche. - Kitchen Utensils IS a niche.

    Games is not a niche.
PC Games is not a niche.
Call of Duty IS a niche. - Battlefield 1943 IS a niche. - Starcraft 2 IS a niche.

    I hope this helps you.

Try using this tool to find your niche:
    https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

Enter a keyword that you maybe interested in: Take Kitchen for example and you'll get this result:
You can check the Tool to get the rest of the words. Find a topic that has about average competition.

To get the CPC rates to show: Click on Show / Hide Columns and select Show Estimated Avg. CPC

I think you really have to do your research outside of just keyword searching to find the right niche. I've been setting something up on my website for a niche that is wide open. I'm starting an e-book to let people know the intricacies of this broad category.

I would read up on your niche to see what things will unfold later on in the year.

the right niche in my opinion would be anything that has a solution to a problem. a majority of people are on the internet looking for a solution to a problem they have be it a relationship problem, financial problem, or a health problem.

The information I would find most useful when looking for new keyword or new niche is an ability to measure existing competition levels for keywords. I believe wordtracker and market samurai are both good tools when it comes to keyword research and niche research as they both show you search volume, competition levels, etc. from their keywords databases.

when i do a keyword search on adwords on google i look for the global monthly search volume to be between 1000 and 2000...800 or 900 is ok too. and then go to google and seach that keyword and if the results are less than 50,000 then you should do pretty good in the rankings.

Excellent advice. Break things down into categories, and then break them down again, and again. I do this on a notepad & paper (you'd really laugh if you ever read it).

Notice how everyone said go straight to Google Keyword tool? Mind you, the Google keyword tool is very useful.. try think outside of the box. Ask friends and family what the last thing they searched on the internet was, or what their hobbies are. This has provided me with a few past ideas in the baby, newborn niche.

Demand is definitely the deciding factor for me. It doesnt make any sense to get into a niche if there is no demand for the particular product or service.

Niche research and keyword research are 2 different things.

If you need ideas for niches, sites like Ebay Pulse/Popular, Amazon are good if you are selling physical products.

Magazines.com and ebooks.com as well as the above are good for finding niches if you are selling digital products.

Once you have an idea of your niche, check in Google to make sure there are advertisers paying for adwords.

After that, you can use Google's keyword tool and/or your favorite other keyword tool to do your keyword research.

When using the Google Keyword Tool, do you want the Advertiser Competition to be high right? So advertisers are fighting for the key word and there for prices for it go higher?

Adword bid prices is usually a good indicator for how commerical the keyword maybe.
