Hosting Directory?

Would a hosting directory be a good idea?

I've never tried doing a directory before so it would be a good experience.

Its a good idea. You would get listing from Hosting Companies for sure.
Between, most of the hosting companies have theri own directories. I never checked one though. But they must be general directories only.

Anyways Go ahead. Its a different idea.

In what sense? For money or something else?

Well...

Say if you had adsense on it, web hosting keywords can be ok regarding the amount per click, but adsense (at least on most dirs) is known for doing poorly.

Obviously theres more web hosting providers than most other types of sites but its whether they are willing to pay for listings, some are definately, but how many is a guess.

Plenty of affiliate programs for web hosts but do they work well on a directory, again i dont know.

Something worth thinking about before going ahead with it.

 

I'll have a think, weigh up the pros and cons and see if its worth my time bothering.

Most of those hosting directories wound up becoming an affiliate directories when it gets it's ranking and notice it's not making as much so they turn to affiliating which loses it's credentials once the user finds out about it. Some are doing okay, but many I don't think they are doing well.

 

Affiliate programs from other directories works pretty well for directories.

 

Hosting directory is as good as any.

Nice Idea, but stick to it to get success. After some time you will feel that this niche is very limited and you should expand your domain of work, If you feel so, do make a different website for that and do not spoil your this directory.. you will start getting rich buying traffic after a long hardwork and wait.

I dont think thats true, because a directory promoting another directory as an affiliate will have a much harder job trying to make from that.

 

Yeah, i think it is a good idea if you make it regional. That means, seperate it by country. So, hosting companies from all around the world will submit their website. And if you don't make the submissions free, you can earn money. You shouldn't focus on adsense revenue, you should focus on featured and regular paid submissions.
