This thread is likely to cause some uproar. A few years ago, when I joined DP, most members were proficient english speakers. I've noticed that DP has been receiving an influx of non-english speakers. Obviously this is because of the economic opportunity offered to those in third-world countries, particularly India. Ok, so many can speak english, but broken english. I look at this forum now, and the language used disgusts me.

There should be an english test for every forum except the marketplace.

Obviously this will never happen, but I wish it would.

I completely agree. I have no problem whatsoever with other races, in fact I'm very anti-racist. But this forum has become hopeless. I barely post anymore because it's impossible to have an intelligent/intellectual discussion - which to me is very valueable in a forum. Everyday I see hundreds of pointless threads created which make no sense, and contribute nothing. Somebody might aswell be running xRumer to spam the forum.

The General forum is full of random, stupid posts. BST is full of recycled, overpriced eBooks and schemes.

I don't even bother asking questions in the marketing forums anymore because I get the same useless answer posted by about 10 members in broken english, when I was looking for a valued response.

So what your saying is that to be part of DP people should have to take an english test. I don't understand your point buddy. That would get rid of alot of members of the Marketplace and a lot of people on the site.

Actually why should they have to adapt to be members of a site, why can't you adapt?

I'm guessing your American, I'm Canadian. But, theres people (I've noticed in the last 2 days) on here from everywhere. I've been on lots of webmaster forums, and there all accepting. I've ran my own webmaster forum, and I wanted members from everywhere to feel accepted and not be asked to take a test to join the site.

We have to be accepting of people of all languages.

If there english is a bit off. DEAL WITH IT. At least there trying to learn our language and be proficient in it. Imagine how hard it would be for you to learn THERE language.

I think that this would be a great idea. WHY? - Because, no offence. BUT, a majority of the scammers on DP have been "non-English" and by that i MEAN a LOT of them!

Sure, they are here on the forums and have taken the time to learn our lanuage. That is their choice to join an English based site.

We would have to do the same if we joined a site in another lanuage.

Can you expect them to have perfect english like you and me when they join the site. Maybe we should be supportive of there attempts and help them along. I'm sure if you had just learned another language you wouldn't want to read posts like this.

I like how you make the scammer point. Thats a stereotype. Sure there are scammers who do, that. But, there are many scammers with the perfect of english. So throwing a stereotype out like that isn't really right.

I want to read what the owner, I think its Shawn is going to say about this.

If they can speak English well enough to take part in conversations, then they will. If you can't understand someone's attempt, just ignore them and you won't have to see them. If they write in anything other than English (in posts or in their signatures), report them as this is an English-only board.

If you're really that bothered by the grammar barrier, you're always welcome to spend your time perusing literary forums instead. This isn't one of them.
