    What was the URL or the concept of the site?

    As a side note, ebay can be a great advertising tool. I listed a piece of software one or twice per month at half it's normal price for two years. I went almost two years without a bid but when the auction was running I got extra visits to my site and averaged one direct full price sale per auction. People would see the product, check it out, and decide not to wait. Spend $1 on an auction, make a $49 sale, not bad. Eventuallly someone actually bid at $25 but more than 20 didn't wait.

    Everyone seems to think that PR increases a sites value. It doesn't! Traffic and revenue is what counts.
